I need your help with your ears tuning my high needle.

Temp on ground 203F. If I richen the needle 1 click richer, it will be 177F.

Tell me if this sound right, OS 32 are harder engines for me to tune.

Doesn't sound too bad, but you can't accurately tune a high speed with quick collective climbs. Need to fly around with the throttle fully open but without so much pitch it bogs the engine down in order to really tell what the needle is doing.

Agree with Ben....but suggest such testing be done at the flying field and not your front yard....

Additionally, if you know how to auto, take it around like Ben suggested followed by an auto from good height..... when you switch into throttle hold listen to the motor..... if it “hangs on the pipe” it’s too lean. If it immediately transition to idle cleanly then you’re good .....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

How can I do this when I can't hear?

How many times do I have to tell you that I am DEAF!

My friend! It is alright, we will make it work!

Can't I hit throttle hold on the ground and let it transit to idle. Will that work as well?

This is why I am going this in the front yard, I agree on safety factor to fly at the field. I am the only helicopter pilot in the entire west valley that I am aware of. This is why I need your help!

I guess I will get a video at the flying field with throttle at full power!

Thank you for tipping in! Least I know the engine is good enough to fly around. May not be 100% tuned in perfect.

Don't you have a friend that could "lend you an ear"?

No one around to help me. My family or friends do not understand machines or even how to listen for tuning performance.

You guys are all I got! Unless, I make a 90 minute drive to Mesa on the weekends. I may just have to do that.

Yes, the engine tuning. I have trouble with smaller motor than 50/90 engines.

30 do not give you much forgiving tune tweaks.

Apparently, one more time !!

No, same concept applies.... You need to be able to hear what is going on with the motor and from a hover (or on the ground) it would be extremely difficult to to determine what the motor is doing....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Yes, the engine tuning.
I'll defer to what Juan recommends....

Perhaps there are Youtube vids(with audio) that can be used to train your friends or a family member...of "tuned" and "not tuned" sounds...and compare yours to that.

Otherwise, perhaps a road trip is in order.

sounds mostly fine, little light on the smoke, what fuel are you using? more nitro means more fuel. Throttle curves might be 80, 90, 95, 90, 80 this way there's more throttle under hover than only 82 and 80 compared to 75 may be the small amount needed for a stronger pull out, it's not a 37 and certainly not a 50 or 55 so take it for what it is 66% power on a 6lb machine then that of a 95 on a 12lb 700 machine. How heavy is the heli you have?

Do the click out one. Manual says 1.5 turns on the high needle and fuel throttle mix internal setting is needle shoulder tangetal to the carb body, the manual is at os, search it, it helped me out tons. I'd gotten my 32 to run at 1.75 but it was weaker than when the needle was at 1.5, even had it up to 2 where it would bog. Smaller motors are more sensitive to slight changes in needle settings.

Honestly, is the head temp 210F? I took it from S2 mode and landed it to hit throttle hold. I stopped the blades as fast as I could and use a temp gun.

210F is what the gun read.
