I've flown over 400' AGL.....flew pattern for decades....

And I will continue to do so....and WILL NOT register.

I DON'T FLY NEAR AIRPORTS!

AND HAVE NEVER INTERFERED WITH FULLSCALE FLIGHT TRAFFIC!

And having been a lifelong AMA member....whose # has fewer digits than those that buy an AMA life membership, the CURRENT AMA hierarchy has sold their members down the tube.

No matter what they say now....nor what rookie AMA members say!

If for no other reason than they LIED to their members when Congressional legislation, signed into Federal Law by the POTUS, specifically stated that as hobbyists WE were exempt from these FAA regulations.

And rather than siding with the US Constitution, they sided with such petty unelected bureaucrats!

I think the problem is simple... I wont register because the systems that have been at the very center of all these incidents with commercial aviation and invasion of privacy all have these things in common: GPS, non-LOS, and Video capability.

anything with GPS, non-LOS and Video capability should be open to discussion... and it is these very systems at the root cause of nearly every single incident involving RC aircraft simply because they enable the stupid pilots to get into places he/she has no business in... sometimes out of curiosity other times out of intent to view with little risk of being caught.

if you fly to the original AMA rules... there is no point in registering.

I agree that AMA unfortunately has given in to influence... and it has nothing to do with carrying on the traditions of model flight.

government has always sought to control and take money in every imaginable way... this is simply one of them where we saw the danger, (many on this forum were very vocal about the dangers of FPV, GPS and general DRONE tech) and now its a little too late to get them out of our business.... maybe we need cut the core items causing the problem out of our hobby... in order to save it, or go down with the ship all as one.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

"Well, actually they do. Its just the NRA makes an enormous effort to try and cover it up through direct propaganda and back door tactics like that 90s law that forever blocks federal funding for the CDC to study the issue."

More fake BS. There is NOTHING stopping the CDC from studying "gun violence". The Dickey Amendment prevents Federal funding being used to push Gun Control. Period.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dickey_Amendment_(1996)

" In 2013, President Barack Obama directed the CDC to research gun violence. The CDC responded by funding a research project in 2013[8] and conducting their own study in 2015.[9] That month, a spokeswoman for the agency, Courtney Lenard, told the Washington Post that "It is possible for us to conduct firearm-related research within the context of our efforts to address youth violence, domestic violence, sexual violence, and suicide. But our resources are very limited."

Matter of fact, here's a CDC funded research report! https://www.nap.edu/resource/18319/...Violence_RB.pdf

Just sayin...
