I would really like to have and build a 300 Schweizer kit. It looks like Hirobo still makes one. I'm having a tough time researching if there are any others still being produced or supported. Jr i know used to make one as well. I would prefer electric or maybe one that you can convert. Any ideas or direction you can point me?

Thanks,

In the USA, it looks like you can still get the Hirobo Schweizer 300 which is approximately 550mm Blade size:

If you are looking for something larger, Vario makes several sizes of Schweizer 300, but keep in mind the kit below does not include the mechanics, rotorhead, blades, etc. Vario sells things ala-carte, and not really for beginners:

I was looking at the Hirobo. I'm not a beginner, just new to the forums. When I researched vario it did seem a bit confusing.

I did a search here on the forums and there were several people converting the Hirobo kit to electric and keeping the clutch. The links to the kits no longer work. Does anyone know if they still make a kit? Doing some research on another forum I came up with one but not sure if its what people have used for sure.

This one claims to work, I assume keep the clutch, and the motor must be a 5mm shaft. Thoughts?

This one is from Hirobo but not sure if it will work also...It looks identical to me.

The kits you mention don’t use the clutch, I currently use this conversion in three 30 size hirobo’s, Schweizer, Lama and Huey, they work well.

Yes, those don't use the clutch, but I believe use the pinion from the kit. It is an 8 tooth Mod 1 pinion. I did my own electric conversion on my Hirobo Lama which is the same mechanic as the Schweizer using an 8T Mod 1 pinion for 5mm shaft. The conversion kit you listed is probably the easiest way to convert to electric.

Scheiwzer 300

Please look at my picture of the 300 under my post giant scale cobra. It is from a century kit converted to electric. Hirobo is a great kit as I have the Lama in electric also. Parts are difficult at best to get. So beware, but they are so nice to see fly around. Great heli overall. What ever kit you get, you can convert to e power

There is a Hirobo one currently on ebay. The same seller also has the 3 blade head listed separately.

Fiberglass canopy

If you do go with the Hirobo, make sure you get the newer version with the Fiberglass canopy with the opening doors (it's made by Funkey for Hirobo). The Hirobo original lexan canopy is a piece of crap and I was very disappointed with the quality. I also had a 30 size Hirobo Lama and the canopy for it was very poor quality. Not something you would expect from Hirobo. I now have a Vario 300 with a fiberglass canopy and it's top quality....but you do pay for it. Mark

Hirobo

I currently am finishing a Hirobo Schweizer 300. It was an older kit with the Lexan canopy. The Lexan one is ok if not " compressed " in the box like mine was. I ordered the fiberglass one from RC Japan, who by the way gets their parts directly from Hirobo. Hirobo was out of stock so they ordered a new run from Funkey just to fill my order. You don't see service like that too much anymore. They have every part for the 300 as well as the red and white Lama. I've ordered from them countless times with no bad experiences. So, you guys that have Hirobo helicopters or are considering them, the " myth " of parts being hard to find is just that, a myth. I recently ordered some shuttle parts from a USA supplier. Although the price and service was good, I could have gotten the parts in a third of the time had I ordered them from RC Japan. Thankfully I didn't need these parts quickly.
One thing about the Schweizer. If you do order the fiberglass cabin, the clear windshield is a separate part. Together they will cost about $200 US dollars. Also, RC Japan has a discount price on all their parts - the cheapest I've seen anywhere.

RC Japan

I too have ordered from RC Japan a number of times and have received great service. Funny thing a few years ago I was looking for a Hirobo Shuttle and when I did a Internet search, Amazon came up showing that they had a Shuttle Plus ARF for $230. It was the last one they had in stock and I had it in a few days.....you just never know who has what! You can even get some parts from Walmart.com! Mark
