My 450 originally had a 40 amp ESC. Unknown make I put a 50 amp Skywalker on it got real hot real fast. It shutdown once in the air so I just got a 60 amp Skywalker. Now the battery the wires and the 60 amp ESC just get a bit warm. And the motor gets the hottest. That is the opposite than with the 40 or the 50 amp! So what is normal for most of you guys?

I think that you need to report some temperatures, in order for people to comment on the situation.

A larger ESC will have a larger heat sink, so the temp will decrease if other parts remain the same. I don't think that you will see a motor temp increase as a result of the ESC changes. Maybe slightly depending on the additional weight of the ESC.

how's your mech setup..

Could there be an unwanted drag in your system..to tight gearmesh; tailbelt to tight..when you spin the head counterclockwise by hand does it spin freely.?

I do a great decending funnel!

Yes, something doesn't sound right. like utahbob said I would be checking things over to find extra current draw. Let us know what you find.

Does it have a tail belt?

Perhaps it's too tight.

And check the motor pinion mesh to the main gear.

What's normal?

After a good check I found to tight of a gear mesh and tail belt. Now I know the rotor should turn freely. Also seems to fly better! Thanks RR came through again.
