Ok thanx will follow your advice, will have another go, I have taken the fan of the motor and will turn the Audio off and see how many minutes I get, keeping the fan on the esc.

Ok this is the result and its a bad one.
First of all running without the fan is a big no, temp reached 120c on the motor with the 3s,I got 9 minutes 20 seconds audio still on.

Next was the 2s with the motor fan and audio off, I got 9 minutes and 40 seconds, motor temp boiling hot at 110c , did not attempt to run it again without the heatsink and fan, far to hot to touch

Have you changed the gearing at all? Hard to believe Traxxas would send out a model that required a fan without it being a built in option

No I am using the stock pinion I have not touched the high speed pinion, I did loads of research on the Traxxas forms, most guys are running both fans, motor and pinion, running without a fan will shorten the life of the motor and esc, I was also told to use the high temp grease that goes between the motor and heatsink.

Perhaps try a smaller pinion and see where that leads. In my believe you should not need a fan on the motor ever in an rc car. If you can not achieve the speed you want without it its time for a better power system.

Something is off somewhere. We sell loads of these things without any heat issues. Are you running the stock wheels and tires or have you gone to larger tires?

Running all stock, its on its way back to be checked,it could be the bearings in the motor Im told.
