So I check my mail and all of a sudden my home insurance is increasing... for years it has remained the same, but now they claim that the cost to replace or rebuild my home in my area (central Texas) is higher...

or really? I call BULL$HIT.

I think my insurance company (Farmers) is seeing its bottom line go negative due to all the insurance claims in Houston and Florida and looking to make up for the loss by increasing rates on everyone else, but claim it as increase in costs in my area... what a load of lies.

this story from USA today:
"It’s not a recoupment mechanism; it’s not about setting premiums to offset last year’s policies," says Mike O'Malley, senior vice president of public policy for the association.

Because of insurers' preparation for extreme weather and the competitive nature of the insurance marketplace, Ted Nickel, president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, isn't forecasting higher insurance costs for consumers either.
what a load of crap.

watch your insurance guys... its gonna go up to make up for the losses.

think its time to go insurance shopping.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Curious...how much did it go up?

I "have to" pay a separate hurricane premium on top of regular.

Fortunately being 60ft above sea level, I dont have to pay for flood.

So far I have not received an increase. Given, thats only a matter of time.

They will keep raising the rates until we collapse from within. Gold and Silver is looking better, problem is....where is the reliable medium exchange? Fed Reserve, will not let that happen without a war.

As far as I can remember, our country has the habit of spreading other people's pain into other people's wallets. I choose not to let it upset me, simply because I know the truth.

You already know what is going on, I suggest you prepare.

I got a bad feeling that the next pain is going to hit California. I see large land mass missing/damaged in Southern California region and maybe San Francisco.

Insurance Industry will blame climate change and charge more higher insurance premiums.

I actually suspect insurance in Texas is a scam...I have no proof...It would be interesting to see rates from other states.

Update...here's a link for $200,000 dwelling with $1,000 deductible and $100,000 liability:

My home insurance with $500 deductible is $550 per year.

Property taxes now are $756.00 per year, used to be $450 per year.

I know our Government/Insurance are scamming us. What can we do? This will take a national effort to turn this around.

I'm at a lost...it seems our governments...local, state, and federal don't give a rip about controlling costs at all.

Entire states are out of control and their only answer is to raise taxes.

We're in trouble.

That cost per state made me cringe given I live in Florida...top on every list.

So given that, Im the one that should be bitching about it.

Conflict of interest...

I suspect we will find some sleazeball politicians with their hands in the till.
Makes you wonder if politicians that regulate such industry should be allowed to have a vested portfolio in such. The same goes for military industrialized complex.

Seems no different than inside trading.

Unfortunately, they are not going to shoot themselfs in the foot.
