HE is still around but his product line up has changed. He seems more focused on drones, you can still buy the RAVE envy and other products over seas distributors. Stock is limited.

Legend! Back when helis had way more presence in the air and didn't fly at 150mph everywhere so you could actually see them! This flight is WAY more impressive than anything Mirco Dahl Alsaadi can do! Flybarred and not only nitro but 'only' a 91!

My first heli was a Rave 450. It was well designed and very stable. He designed wonderful helicopters.

that was when you had to really fly helicopter and properly set up mechanically, rather than just punch numbers in on a laptop. as all he had in the early days was a governor and a strange Tx LOL

I remember reading how he would experiment with different weighted paddles, different horizontal fins etc, he was a real pioneer to 3D and was a nice chap to talk to as well.

I first saw Curtis' name pop up in the magazines back in 1986 (before the world wide web came of age) making a name for himself at the Tangerine event (back then the nationals were held there I think) he was flying a GMP Competitor with Yale tru-spin blades (wood) and a JR century 7 single stick radio and a JMW gyro. He became the standard by which all others were judged and everyone followed in his wake. soon more and more really good 3d pilots started to emerge but Curtis managed to stay on top with maneuvers, style, smoothness and technique. He was not only tops in wild 3d, he was also tops in precision f3c flying and from what I understand, his setups work for both. His engineering degree has certainly taken his flying talent into the areas of design and research as well. I am sorry to see him disappear from the limelight but I am glad he never got into scale heli competition or I would never have a chance at the top spot
