My fellow Raptor Fans, I want to dedicate this thread for life span extension. I disagree with TT discontinuing the Raptor line. What can we do? I figure the first step is to combine our brains to increase the lifespan of our beloved Raptor 50 Titan. We will need parts and nothing but parts, parts and parts!

Here will be the first contribution here:

1)Successfully transplated complete rotor heads from Align flybared Trex 600 and very confidently Align Trex 600 DFC heads will work.
(Must use Align washout hub with TT washout arms/TT swash)

2)Complete Titan X50 rotor head successfully transplanted. (Raptor 50 titan main mase needs to be rotated upside down and an extra hole drilled. The mechanics are the same specs for the Raptor 50 body except the 4 links in the rotor head requires different sizing). (Can't use Titan X50 main mase)(Pitch needs to be reversed (Radio))

3)Titan SE is easy swap, no explanation necessary.

As I move along with tests and parts, I will update this thread! Feel free to fill in the blanks for the life extension of the R50 series. The most concerning for our series will be the belt and boom. I haven't found a substitute quite yet.

Tested the X50 rotor head this evening

This is the best hands down TT rotor head for the Raptor 50 titan series. Gonna acquire a few X50 rotors head for spare parts, don't waste your time with anything else!

Tail belt replacement found

Mikado 686xl is the belt that works on raptor titans running 620 booms.

PV0520 is the TT factory for 620 boom sized belts.

Good
Keep it coming. I really like my Raptors. I suppose I could just sell up and move the on, but I'm comfortable with them. I even like the TT 50 engine ( once you've done the needle mod) it runs like a sewing machine. Nowhere near the power of a hyper but if your just flying around it's fine.

I was really worried about drive belts going obsolete and being unavailable so bought a few and have stored them in the dark, to try and keep them good for as long as possible.

Tail Boom repairs on Raptor 50 Titan

I acquired two damaged tail booms, one from shipping and the other from bad auto-rotation.

Don't get greedy and aim for perfection! You will have a stuck socket and big hammers come out!

Okay....Duct AL tape, 15mm socket....first push the dent out with 15mm or 14mm socket without tape. Slowly over time push the dent....then start adding tape....once you can't add more, then roll it on a flat surface with the socket inside the boom under the dent.

Two beat up booms for auto-rotation practice or newbie hovering.

That is a great tip. Or, you can buy gorgeous carbon booms from RC Foam.
That's what I have turned to.

Great thread. I love my Raptor 50. Had a boom strike a week ago and will try to repair per InvertedDude's suggestions. Luckily I did have a spare boom.

TT Parts

If you need parts make a list with PV numbers while supplies last. I have V1 parts and V2.

Cool thread!!!
Been flying raptor for a long time. Still have my x50 nitro. Plenty of parts for it still. I have torq tube gears up for sale if anyone is interested. I run the Mikado belt on my bird. It's a better belt then stock TT belt... I've made mods over time and will post here what I've done.

MartyH, are the booms 50 size or are they titan/x50 length. Longer boom?

Suffered a crash this evening

I found the reason for the crash. I am gonna posting pictures and ideas to solve this issue.

The screw that goes into the push/pull of the elevator backed out and resulted loss of elevator control. This was a new spanking raptor 50 titan with OS32 out of the box.

Yes, guys everything was checked over and all the proper techniques were applied. This is one of these things that you just can't predict!

This has set me back with two crashes within a short span of time.

Can you expand what you mean by that ?? Did you buy this heli assembled vs assembling it yourself ?

I've had many, many hours flying Raptors (30's 50's 60's) and have not run into or seen this issue....

The two things I can think of is that either that screw was never tightened to begin with or it was stripped from over tightening which caused it to back out....

I know you'll not particularly care for my answer but to me it's fairly cut and dry....

PS-- you might get more views if you start a new thread rather than tagging it on with this one.....though "related", it's really a different topic......

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

It was ARF assembled in the box. I took it apart to double check everything.

You know CA and blue locktite.

Funny thing, I checked that screw before flight and had no reason to worry about anything. It had only 2 flights on the frame!

I have 5 raptors here in the house, none of them exhibit this issue.

Brand new NHP razor blades trashed!!!

Not happy right now, do have a solution to the problem. Will post pictures and solution later when I feel like it.
