need some help with a castle 160a ESC I have the end points set as per the instructions then set to heli model - governor mode - set rpm , then set throttle curve flat, norm o ,stunt 1 70%, stunt 2 100%, when I run the motor stunt 1 is alright stunt 2 is alright, but when I come back down to norm it takes forever to stop.

Does it act the same when using throtle hold?

Do you have bail out enabled?

Throtle trim may need to be further or completely down.

When you say it takes forever to stop, is it just spooling down, or is it running? I have set up a ton of these things, and you either get power to the motor or no power to the motor. When you do get power, it will look for an ESC out setting from your transmitter, ie throttle curve value. Depending on what value you set, you should get one of the three requested head speeds.

If you are getting any run signal from the transmitter, then it should go to the lowest requested rpm that you asked for in the setup, not just a really slow speed. You are saying it does stop. Does it just keep running or does it just slow down to a low head speed?

Are you by any chance running a Vcontrol transmitter? Mine has an idle position that is part of the bailout system that keeps a slight amount of power to the motor when you go to idle. I haven't ever let it just keep running at idle, but I think it will keep running until the flight packs run down.

I would suggest setting the throttle trim to 0 and do another endpoint calibration.

it slows down but just keeps running at a fair speed well below the lowest of the flat curves, radio is JR 11x I have reset the end points several times

throttle trim is -12
Set trim to ZERO when doing calibration THEN trim it lower. That should do it.

Also, do not "further push" throtle stick down at any given point. It should be down on its natural lowest mechanical position.

Just curious the castle link gave you a solution of a flat curve norm 0, S1 70, S2 100, and you set the end points stick low 0 stick high 100 straight when you were setting up the end points

yes end points were set exactly as that video shows and the flat curve is 0-70-100 head speed 901-1050-1230, endpoints were set on lineal curve.

Radio is a JR 11x

* * * *

I think I see the problem.

Set ESC to Airplane, this will disable the gov and the set rpm options that are for helicotper only.

Set throtle trim to zero and NORMAL throtle curve to linear from 0 to 100 and calibrate throtle end points as per the video instruction. You should be hearing the same tones as in the video. These tones verify proper calibration.

AFTER calibrating, you should have total control of motor, otherwise you may have a defective ESC (doubtful).

IF successful, THEN switch to helicopter and proceed with the SET RPM option.

The SET RPM throtle curve should be:
Normal 0-30-30-30-30 (901 rpm)
Stunt1 70-70-70-70-70 (1050 rpm)
Stunt2 100-100-100-100-100 (1230 rpm)
TH 0 (throtle hold)

"OPTIONALLY" you can set
Normal 30-30-30-30-30
since your Throtle Hold is set to ZERO and should turn off motor.

Using this "optional" normal setting is actually safer given that when you turn on radio, it should give you a warning that throtle is high. This forces you to activate throtle hold and bypasses any accidental "bumping" up the throtle stick and heli spooling up.

That's what I was thinking there Pete that curve caught my eye and made me scratch my head norm 0 30 30 30 30. Is what it should be,

Yeah, it has to be a calibration issue and doing it in "airplane mode" eliminates other variables.

have tried everything listed in previous replies still no luck, so decided to go back to the start,
This model was originally a gasser, set up with axon gyro and a stator gator governor, stator gator did not work well so I decided to convert the model to electric with Align 800MX motor and castle speed control, and it seems that the governor in the axon was trying to overide the governor in the castle once the axon governor was turned off everything started to work properly. knew it would be somthing simple.

Thanks to Pistol Pete and chopper37 for all your efforts

Tony.
