How did you guys get your brushless motor to work on your gas engine without the spark plug failing to produce spark? that is the problem I'm having, it seems like I'm grounding out the engine.I'm using a Park 450 brushless outrunner motor 890KV, Hyperion atlas 45a esc and a 3s battery for starting.

I hope that spark plug is grounded to the engine or you will destroy your ignition system.

What do you mean about the spark plug being grounded

The circuit is complete when the spark plug is screwed into the head. It grounds through the threads. When you unscrew the spark plug the coil is making all that voltage and the path to ground is incomplete so the huge voltage spike has nowhere to go.
A flashlight battery has a (+) and a (-). You interrupt the (-) ground to turn off the flashlight.
Hold the spark plug against the metal part of the head with a screwdriver to complete the circuit. I used to grab the spark plug wire on my old go-cart to see if it was firing. Didn't take long to let go of it if it was firing!

I understand what you mean, when I lay the spark plug against the cylinder head I get no spark.

I bet it is not turning fast enough. When I watch the video, I can almost count the cooling fins on the flywheel. It looks like the flywheel is making one rotation per second. That would be 60 RPM. It needs to turn at least 300 RPM for the magnet in the flywheel to create a spark in the coil.

When I watched this video.... And when I measure the RPMs (using my trusty Mk1-eyeball) I would say that my setup spins the starter way faster than this.....

I agree with the other two. I don't remember how fast mine was turning, but it was a lot faster than what you are getting.

If your ESC can handle more cells, you can try a new battery to increase voltage and RPM's.

That is correct, the two wires are connected together to kill spark.
