Was looking around for some information on breaking hovering or flight time records regarding electric helicopters.

My Trex 600ESp with Raptor 50 Titan head flies at 11:30 before I need to come down. 5000mah 45c Glaicer pack 6s.

Battery recharged under 3900mah.

Average 343 mah per minute.

Does any one have interests of long flight times. I was considering adding 8000mah pack?

I can't find it now, but the Ikarus Eco 8 held the record for many years at an hour and a half. I think it was finally beaten by a Henseleit heli. I wish I could find the site.
The secret to long flights is a lightweight helicopter with a low headspeed.

My Eco 8 uses a 3000 mah 10 cell Nimh battery and still makes 20 minute flights. It is a very light helicopter.

Is that 11:30 AM or PM. ???

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

I would assume 11:30 AM, as at night lights would be required which would consume extra power....

LoL!!!

Funny guys, truthfully I do have large spot lights for night flying in my front yard. You know, practice precision hovering to achieve the life status of KING HOVER!

11:30 time is referring my flight "wheels off" time of eleven minutes and thirty seconds!

8000mah 5s pack will get you at least 30% more flight time and maybe upto 50% more. Going lower voltage allows the motor and esc to run closer to 100% while also reducing your head speed meaning massive efficiency improvement plus you are carrying much more capacity (mah) for little if any weight gain. You could even go 4s 8000 or 10000 and gain even more flight time.

P.s. at such low discharge rates you can go way beyond the 80% rule, even upto 90% so flight time can increase exponentially.

60% of the time, it works every time!
