Don't you just love all their acronyms?....

Wonder what the cost is to develop them, acronyms that is?

Ok - - without looking it up - -
What does LASER stand for ?
How about MASER ?
How about LIDAR ?
How about RADAR ?

I still remember back in the early 60's, I was in a lab at UofD looking over another student's experiment, a ruby flash LASER, right next to the university's wind tunnel, tube manometer rack and all.

you know,, IF you believe me ,, my friend I grew up with flew an Apache in Desert Storm, he was titled "Most to be relied on" by his peers, at the end of his career he was allowed to fly the Comanche,, the fist thing he told his father was that the Comanche probable will never be used because it's just too much money,, the 2nd thing he told his father was that "you really do not need to even fly the Heli to shoot down your enemy, because you can see your enemy 60 miles out and you can shoot them down from the there",, I believe he said you can not (or should not) shoot your missiles off while setting on the ground, not sure on that tho, that's just the way I remember it,,

my whole point, why a Lazer when a missile is so classic and works so well LOL

note that my friend retired from the Army back when the Comanche was still a new thing !!

Missiles are a LOT more expensive, per shot, than a laser.

You could shoot a laser about 100,000 times for the cost of one missile.
