I feel that having an account for a long time compared to actively contributing to discussions and topics on RR are two completely different things. The status should be earned through participation and effort, not just creating and maintaining an account to flip used rc products in the classified section.

Valid argument, but classified and off-topic posts do not count toward classification.

You do have a good argument with regards to participation.

Active participation does not equate to knowledge and experience.

I totally agree with you, Mike. It's a tough nut to crack (no pun intended!).

Classification is hard to weigh on a message board...forum, whatever you want to call it. Post count can be gamed (you know who you are), but finding a metric that works with participation and time-in-grade is quite difficult. Without resorting to likes/dislike kinda BS, that is.

I always thought it was a bit strange that rank is only tied to posting. But it is a forum and posts are what make it work. It would be interesting if there were another metric but off hand I don't know what that would be.

J.B., yes i know that the classified posts do not count towards your total post count. (Dont mean to sound smug or rude about that!) What i was attempting to point out is that there are members who mainly join, and are/have been members for a long time, just to take advantage of the classified section. They may have been members for several years in some cases and maybe only contributed a few normal posts in some cases. I think it was a great idea that Mark did this. But, going forward, should a 1+ year member like this eventually become a veteran, a master, a RRprofessor?... I remember when i was a new member- i looked at those who held theas titles with awe and respect and when they spoke (posted) i listened and learned. I know this may sound like im joking but seriously, when you are new to rc helis, the guys who know their stuff are somewhat god-like in stature to you! I think it would be sad if this changed on RR.

I will have to say that since I became an "apprentice" after 11yrs, I've been posting a lot more. So maybe it's okay.

Don't do that! Unless you enjoy quads. I was setup at IRCHA 2008 right next to Curtis when he was doing demo's for his Rave 450. An energetic and nice guy to boot. I still fly his blades on my flybar Vibe 50. There getting scarce.

Yes he is a real nice guy. He had a good line of heli's and acc.
To bad things move so fast in this hobby. Everything get's outdated as soon as you buy it.
As far as the Quads go. It's another thing to try and learn abought. I have had a hard time finding out abought them. Even from guys that fly them?
Do they FLY? LOL
