Guys I have this TT 70 Which I have stripped down, so I can do a full rebuild, But The bloody fan/hub is giving me a problem. I can't get it off... On other engines I normally tap the crankshaft and it drops through the other end. However on this engine it won't budge. What's the trick to pull it off Please..

Nope the only screws I see is 2 m3 that screw the plastic fan to the hub (But I have removed the crankshaft nut)...Though, I don't know what heli it came from, as I bought it from eBay...

Oh I do know that there's no key on the crankshaft, as I have another TT 70. Without the fan/hub....

How about if I just heat up the hub (Even though the fan will melt).. Then I can try to tap the center of the crankshaft again (To remove it), as I don't need the fan/hub or the damage bearings. Which will happen...

Ok .... not sure why you posted this in the "gasser" section, clearly not a gasoline motor .....

You may get more exposure if you post your question in the main discussion section....

I think the 50 in my Titan had the fan screwed on.

One last thing ...... look at your other TT 70 you own ..... is the crank between the threads and front bearing tapered ?? I don't think it is ....

I'm about 98 % certain that your fan assembly screws onto the crankshaft.... that's why it won't "tap off"

Lock the crank with a wooden dowel or plastic toothbrush and twist the fan assembly off by turning it counter clockwise......

Like BeltFedBrowning said, the 50 is threaded...... so was the 30 and the 60

Don't think they all of a sudden changed it with the 90's

I know that many heli mfgs use a split collet to secure their hub/fan assemblies which have a tapered hub but what you have sure looks like a TT fan/hub assembly....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....
