Go to the Experian website, it is the most used for auto loans.

+1. You can get your credit report free, but you may have to pay a little for your score. I do it every few years.

Understand that they are all different. So one score is not going to give you an accurate picture I had one that was 70 points higher on one than another.

walk into a Ferrari dealership... you'll know for sure then.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Yes, depends whether its for a house or a auto, but Experian is the gold standards mots banks use on the west coast where he lives, and all Experian scores are the same.

Places like credit karma or other free sites are generally not accurate and a waste of time.

Credit Karma/Credit Sesame are tools. They are not very accurate, but can be very useful. Figure of a score difference of at least 20+ points between them and your real score. I used them, and I used them effectively for what they are.

I don't know how accurate they are, but Wells Fargo, Citibank and Discover all give your your scores with no cost.
