The 3rd link shows that in 2017, an RV was rented for $1800 and was used for "lodging/office".....and that $6000 was spent for staff for "lodging/office".

Perhaps renting vs buying was confused in the year in question...

Want to say that was just the pilots that pre-registered. I HOPE that
is the case!! The event may have been 'down', but less than 300 would
have been VERY noticeable IMO. Seemed to be a fairly typical busy
IRCHA, especially (and as always) on Saturday.

If I read the bylaws right, the board votes in a new president and then fills the positions. Never seen anything about an election.

I will throw my opinion in here not that it really makes much difference.

First I have no problem not seeing the books. I really could care less about it. In my opinion if they have made a little bit and I bet it isn't as much as ppl think then fine so be it. I wouldn't do something that big for nothing either. If they have broken IRS laws that is up to them to figure it out.

Second the raffle. I never enter one. Screw jobs are common place there. It happens all over the place. Sad thing is there are ppl that only show up to either get something free or win something. Sad but true. See it all the time

Third. Someone got a motorhome? I think that was more of a smart aleck answer. Sure maybe he bought a motorhome. Doesn't mean IRCHA paid for it. I am not gonna say it didn't either but he may have went and borrowed the money for it too. We don't know that and there is no proof either way and even if he did so what.

If anyone thinks there is any nonprofit organization that don't make some extra money out there they are goofy. Clinton foundation just for starters along with a lot more than theirs. They have to have cash on hand or they would never be able to keep having it. Also as far as them making huge amounts of money? I really doubt it. Most of the time there is always someone with their hand out. We all should know this with our own pocket books. They never seem to have what we think they should have in them

Now one thing I have wondered that puzzles me more is why does AMA charge so much to use the property. XFC moved because of that and I know the other events get charged. We as members paid for that place. I would think we could have events there. Now if the event is making money ok but like XFC I doubt made much of anything.

In the end does it really matter if they make some money? No it don't. Nobody does things that big for free. I doubt Mark does this stuff on here for free. Sure you can say that it turns out looking like that because of the time involved. Same for them. If it does matter then make another fun fly and take it to that level. We will come. I would be willing to bet not many ppl would keep doing it for free. My personal opinion I got is that it is for seeing friends and having a good time. If it costs you more than you are willing to spend and are worried if they made a buck off of you then don't go. It is your choice

The total 2017 IRCHA event registration was 700+ pilots.

The below link (293 pilots) was for pre-registered pilots which registered by flightdeck's online system.

While maybe this is true and maybe they did make some money. My point is what difference does it make? If they broke the tax laws then that is for the IRS to deal with. If a person don't like then making any money off of you don't go.

I am sorry but there is no way I would put in that kind of work to not make something off of it. That has to be a huge amount of work. I am also betting that there are very few ppl out there that would go through that much work to not make something. A nonprofit organization can pay the ppl working it for their time. Happens in almost all nonprofit organizations. Hell Billy Grahams church setup was classified as nonprofit. Uuummm how much is he worth? $25,000,000 of nonprofit. That don't include his realestate they have.

So nonprofit can have some money. Sorry I think calling them out is wrong. My opinion. Also if you don't like it just don't go. If the $50 isn't worth keep it.

pre register is not an indicator of actual pilot numbers.

RC FLIGHTDECK has never registered more than half of all pilots attending IRCHA, The number is over 700* registered.

The big drop from the 1100's started last year at IRCHA 2016, 800+ down from 1154.

Making money or not making money....

It's not a matter of making money or not making money, regarding IRCHA Jamboree. What it is about, is about being transparent about what they are doing with the money that is collected from the IRCHA members and IRCHA Jamboree attendees. They are a registered club with the AMA just like every other club. They are required to submit their bylaws and abide by them. In my club, if we didn't have a treasurer's report and didn't account for the money spent, we would have member's that would take issue with that. Why should they be allowed to play by a different set of rules than all the other AMA Clubs that are out there? We send notices out for nominations and make sure everyone has an opportunity to vote. Has anyone that is an IRCHA member ever received an email with regard to upcoming elections? I think we would be hard pressed to find anyone that has! They are trusted to spend the money they collect wisely, in the best interest of the membership. Why is it unthinkable that someone would hold them accountable? I think what really starting churning the pot, was the fact that IRCHA stated that they couldn't pay for the night lights and began taking donations for something that easily could have been paid for out of the budget. I don't have a problem paying the fee to attend IRCHA, I am sure I will attend again next year.

Take them to task and hold them accountable, after all, they are supposed to represent all of us with the AMA.
