The Cobra has a JR mechanical in it. The Mechanical in the photo is a Hitec copy of a Futaba 152. The way you could tell if the gyro was working at least from a power standpoint is that you can hear it spool up.

Yup, big part of the 'cool' factor at the time; Fut154 on a Rebel.
To me, sounded like a turbine spooling up! Performance wasn't that
much greater but sure sounded cool

Three mechanical Gs later, and tried one of these tiny, featerlight
plastic boxes called a "piezo".....how in the world could THAT do
anything for the tail?? And the silence was deafening!

Little did I know at the time....
