After extensive use I have come to the following conclusions about the 18SZ.

I love my 18SZ for comfort and pretty looks and will continue to love it, but...

I have come to the conclusion that the software was written by a new software engineering graduate who is hell bent on showing us how smart he/she is. The instructions are next to useless with little if any real world examples of how to configure a model. It feels as though you need to have been born with a Futaba tx in your hands. I have come from using JR.

I have previously defended Futaba for their +100 0 -100 pitch and throttle curves but now wonder why we cant just switch to a standard 0 to 100 setting.

The user interface to me is very confusing and overwhelming. Ilove building and flying model helicopters. I'm not a software engineer and nor should I need to be.I'm sure Mikado have devised a simplified eser interface although I've not had the opportunity to check it out.

I have never felt this way with JR. A bit of a ramble I know but I just get frustrated some times.

I'm just the opposite. I found it to be intuitive and well laid out. My only wish was that upon startup it went directly to the Model Select screen - just like my 14SGH. Maybe they can add it in a future update. Granted, I have been using Futaba forever. Having said that, the first time I picked up a DX7 I was lost LOL!. Horses for courses I guess. I absolutely LOVE the 18SZ. It IS the radio I have always wanted at the price I wanted to pay.

share the same view like the throttle curve that I don't understand why -100 to +100. I come from 14SG which has 0 - 100.

I am using the Vcontrol and 18SZ. My suggestion to Futaba is to enhance the integration between transmitter and the FBL controller, like CGY750.

Japan knows about the oddball throttle curve. They'll correct it at some point.

Does anyone know why when all the throttle hold functions are set to zero it drives the servo below -100 on the throttle curve?

I would have thought the 0 point (-100 on the SZ) was the lower limit?

17 appears to be the lowest throttle hold position without overdriving the servo.

Would it be more logical and useful to set the travels and limits to the same number? And if no why not?

I cant explain why, but it has been this way for years on many different Futaba TX's. 17 on the TH setting equals -100 "or 0" on the Throttle curve.

I think it has something to do with Throttle trim and Throttle cut, but not 100% certain.

I love my SZH. Didn't like my battery hog 14MZ with it's dark screen. Other than that, it was nice.
