Ok, I assembled my mechanics and had it on the back burner for a while because it didn't have the correct main shaft installed. after getting the correct one, I pulled the old one and when I tried to install the new one, I had a hard time getting the shaft to go into the lower bearing block because it seems the belt ( the smaller length one) has shrunk. I know I didn't have any issues installing it the first time but now it seems its impossible.
well finally I got it all together after several times disassembling the mechs, scratching my head and some profanity I have never heard.
has anyone else had this issue with their extreme mechs? Barry, you out there?

I have a set of those but haven't had an issue..? And not sure why you say "smaller belt"? Mine only has one belt??? I'm converting to electric on mine w/clutch.

Jim if yours has only one belt then its the right hand rotation where as the left hand like I have uses two belts.

Only have one set of these mechanics and I don't have this belt.
Curious to see why would this belt "shrink"...

I am not saying the belt shrunk, not sure if that is even possible, I have seen belts stretch but not shrink. I just know I had a heck of a time getting the belt on whereas it wasn't such a chore when I first assembled the unit.
Your set has no belts at all?

Not saying that...
It has two of them
Sourced one localy as I'm making the set electric...

So now that you got it on... Does it fit ok? To the wheels turn freely or do you have to use "more force" to spin them?

Extreme mechanics are the hardest to take apart once together. It is not unusual for them to be hard like this. Sometimes, the spacers are not exactly all the same length, and this makes a difference to line up the parts. Looking at your pic, the spacers are off as i can see stainless where the purple spacer should be.

they turn fairly free, not as free as before but not tight either, just enough to tell there is a difference now

in the pic nothing is tightened or in position yet, the pic was just to show the belt and pulley in question. I measured all spacers and the 3 sets of four all match their corresponding spacers.
