I decided to fly it again but was wondering
How tight does the belts need to be and how do you adjust yours ?

Are there new grips available to fit normal 425 s with out sanding the roots?

Ran it fairly snug but not screaming tight. 3mm deflection between the main pulley and pinion.

I'd snug the tail side up then the motor side although it's possible to pull the motor side tight by hand then do the tail. Easier for me to just do one then the other. Basically all in how the belt is set on the main pulley when you start.

Noticed it tends to loosen a little after a few flights so I'd set it a hair tighter than standard belt tension and let it settle in. Too loose and you can get some wag at certain times as it goes back n forth from slack to tight as you load and unload the motor.

Used Zeal 430, Switch 423 and SAB 465mm and never had to sand the root so I don't have any input for that question

thanks for the feedback.

I was hoping to hear MSH fixed the blade grip issues
just put a new set of mains, Align 425's and had to sand the roots again.

I got the belt as loose as I can with about 3 mm-4 mm deflection at the motor.

but the motor still gets hotter than I would like it to be.
the ESC and motor are set correctly timing and pole count and freq.
just flying around with a 2000 HS.
maybe this is normal?

I had the old Lipotech motor on my plastic P500 and the MSH/Scorpion motor on the stretch and both ran really hot. Totally normal.

Get screaming hot on the first flight but stay roughly the same temp for many flights after. They're just hot running motors, the Scorpion motors on my Mini Protos and Chase 360 are the same way.

OK thanks for the reassurance.
the original msh motor burned out a while ago and so I replaced it with the scorpion 900kv version but was a bit worried about the heat.

Made me nervous at first too. The old Lipotech motor ran screaming hot, as in don't touch it after one 4:30 flight lol. Then I got one with the Scorp and it was just as bad. Looked it up and saw it as normal but would still let it cool between flights if it was close to 90°F/32°C out.

Although it might be harder on it heating up and cooling down instead of maintaining a somewhat steady temp. Not sure but never had an issue in 500 flights or so.

Sold my P500's due to where I fly, budget and simply liking the agility of the Mini Protos a little more. My last two Mini P crashes cost $50 combined, blades included. Just the SAB 465mm I ran on the P500 stretch cost $65 lol.

Do miss the 500 when it's windy though.
