Just got done with the first couple test flights on my recently converted 600CF to DFC. I utilized the Align DFC head, stock 1650kv motor and gearing, a KDS ebar v2 FBL system, DS 821's on cyclic / S9254 rudder and a 6S 5000mah pack.
This was my first time ever flying a DFC heli of any size. Been flybar flying for the last 10 years.
I can honestly say I don't think I'll ever go back to flybar helis. The difference (for me at least) is awesome. I can set up a FB heli fine. But I really enjoyed being able to plug a program box into this heli, change a couple values, and significantly alter the flight characteristics of this machine. It tracked great, and sustained a hands off hover for as long or longer than any of my FB helis did. Think I need to up my throttle curve a little, it had a light shake under 3/4 stick.
It's not my intention to open a FB v FBL can of worms, and I'm not expressing brand preference. This 600CF was a "getting back into it" on a budget-type-deal. I'm looking forward to messing around with this more in the days to come.
I'm glad I stuck with this project for this long. I didn't originally intend to go FBL, but I don't think I'll go back now.
This hobby can drive me to the point of needing to repair drywall (once, long time ago), but when it goes well, it's one of the most enjoyable things ever.
