Recently i got the bug to have a new fun fly plane. I am looking for recomendations. Maybe something a little like the old Modletech Magic, perhaps a profile plane? What i am hoping for is something that can do really tight flat spins, easy knife edge, maybe a little hovering. Doesn't need to be fancy. I plan on beating it up a bit.

Modest size, 46 to 50 nitro, or similar sized electric.

What do you think?

I fly the model tech 300 with a OS 55. Fun plane to fly and doesn't take up much room. XGM/VGM

Thanks! Unfortunately i read that Modeltech went out of business. (?) Looked like it would do very nicely. I'll keep an eye on e bay perhaps get lucky.

I found Tower hobbies is selling a new Uproar V2 which looks to be a lot more capable than the uproar v1. They also have a fun 51 profile kit. Not sure i really want to build from the kit again, but i had one many years ago which would do some of the flatest tightest flat spins i ever saw.

SIG Somthing Extra... Ebay.

Have one ready for cover, another NIB. (Not for sale)

Fun planes. Not sure on crazy flat spins. For that I just pirouette my heli and try to auto.

~~Enjoying the hobby one flight at a time~~

I have one. It is more than 10 years old and still in nearly perfect condition. love it too much i think. Maybe i should get annother and build bigger elevator and rudder for it.

I ordered an Uproar V2. Simple, cheap, and probably pretty fun. It is on backorder for a few weeks.

I started looking thru my parts boxes to see what i have for it. (nothing unfortunately) but i pulled out an unmarked box from the closet, turns out to be an Old 3D Hobbyshop Edge 540 and motor.

Here is another one i think i will like:

It arrived a couple days ago. Really big tail surfaces. large profile. Inexpensive, capable, and built pretty tough.

I will probably redo the graphics.

Except for wheel collars, the Sabre 35 is done. Turned out pretty well i think. HS 65HB servos, Eflight 450, 3 cell 1300mah 40C lipo, 11x5.5 prop.

All up weight is 1.4 pounds acording to my not very acurate fishscale.

Are those park flyer tail heavy? Those planes whip like nothing! Might be a good plane for my daughter as long as it is purple or pink!

They seem to do best with the CG pretty far back. If i flip the plane upside down and have to add more than a tiny touch of down elevator it is a sign that it is still a tad nose heavy. I might experiment with a bit tail heavy just to see if there is anything to like about it. All of those manuvers where the tail is hanging down are done with the elevator or rudder pushing it down, and the wing fully stalled, and pulsing the throttle just enough to keep it in the air or give it a quick burst to flip the tail around.

This one has really huge control surfaces, and they can swing 45 degrees, so it should be able to flip around like it is trying to bite its own tail.

It only comes in red, but you could always remove or add.

Lite Bipe

I bought these plans the minute I read the article in Model Aviation in '92. Still haven't built it, but I ordered a 2nd set of plans for building, and even had the ribs laser cut. I really want to get this thing built. I've lusted over it for over 20 years!

Cool video, I haven't seen that before! Thanks for posting it.

Maybe this will be the motivation I need to get her built. Except, I want to use a small 4-stroke. We'll see...
