I'm a little disappointed as my new 700x went in bad afew months ago due to failure of the front tail gears .
Since the rebuild it's had the stronger beefed up front gearbox and the red lower speed opposite slant tail gears .
I've prob done maximum of 50 flights and I made the decision to day to down this heli until new gears are once again fitted !!!!
The teeth on the top gear have gone really thin and if you look closely in the pic you will see the one side has worn off them on an angle !!
Not impressed .
I truely believe these plastic cases are still flexing .
Align can you please make this case in aluminum ??
I'm confident this will fix the issue and be a nice upgrade .
Will try and post photo below

700x gears

I've got the same problem .had 700e dfc for years and no problem with gears on heavy abuse .but the new 700x even with the new red tail gears with the new upgraded gear box wear uneven and quick .due to put the 3d set in this year shortly as current ones have worn to knife edge allready .

You can see clearly looking at old gear on the right and new on left the wear difference looking from above !!
Align if your reading this then fix it and stop making us pay for upgrades !! Which is wrong as the machine should be fit for purpose .
Plus as shown your upgrades have failed !!
When it comes to Align ver Sab with looking after there customers and standing by there products Sab wins hands down .
Unless this is fixed then soon I will be a non Align Fleet as this **** wearing thin now .
I've now fitted another new gear set and added one of there further upgrades shims ! At more cost to my self .
I'm pretty sure though this is just going to mask the fault and may be make them last a little longer .
The cases are obviously still flexing but they will not admit it as every one will be demanding free upgrades with which they should get !!!!

Where did you install the main shaft shim ? On the top of the top main bearing block ? If so then the gear mesh is not even. You need to shim between the top bearing and the main gear. Right on top of the copper spacer. This will align the gears. Also did you upgrade your tail boom mount. Just because you have red gears does not mean your kit came with the stronger boom mount. Orginal boom mount alows the 2 bearings hold rear TT gear to flex under load. This cause addition misalignment. Post some pictures of your mesh.

Hello Knightof carnage thanks for reply .
It's not to do with main shaft gear or auto gear .
I shimmed above the top bearing block like ur supposed too .
If you need to shim below to align ur auto gear with tail gears then you have some thing wrong as mine are aligned perfectly .
It's between the Torque tube gear and bevel gear in front gearbox .
And yes I had the latest upgraded front plastic cases .
I've now fitted new gears and added the Align upgrade shim !!!
More money too them .
It's ok now as flew it tonight , but it's pretty obvious these cases are still flexing as I've flown the 700s both e and n from before they were even available in the U.K. And never did I have these problems running the same type gears , only reason for changing them would be if I clipped tail on ground but even after thousands of flights I never seen them wear out .

Just wanted to confirm, you did NOT have the shim behind the one gear in the tail case that touches the torque tube correct?

No I didn't because Align only recently brought the shim upgrade out .
I didn't even know they had started selling these until I had the issue with tail gears again .

So you are having more problems with the new boom clamp cases and red gears than you had with the old cases and white gears correct?

Do you use a lot of right rudder in your flights? The reason I ask is most people piro using left rudder which is easier on the tail.

60% of the time, it works every time!

No less problems with the new set up but still wearing gears
Both mine and my butties 700 were fitted with the new red gears and cases afew months ago and both of our gears were very worn in such a short period .
Yes they do seem better than the first X cases and black gears as I lost the tail in 3 months originally .
Now there just worn .
I've replaced mine again and shimmed them , do only time will tell if they last any longer .
I always do left input on the TX for my piros .

I'm running Align Gpros and I set it up the same as my other helicopters .
It's nothing to do with that ,
All I hope is that people are inspecting there front tail box gears as other wise there gonner get caught out like I did on the original gears and tail box .
And no good looking at the rear ones as they don't wear that y the problem points still towards cases flexing and not the gears them selves as the tears are the same tooth count and materials

I wouldn't dismiss the stop gain question so easily. This heli can live with extremely high tail gains without producing a fast wag. I accidently flew with gain at maximum with the microbeast because I was not used to setting it up via gyro channel. I only heard a strange noise when putting a lot of stress onto the tail. I lowered the gain a lot after that and it never ever blew out on me but the noise is gone. I am sure flying with maximum gain would've had a bad effect sooner or later.

I am at about flight number 100 on my 700X and the gears look good. Never shimmed but it is the new tailbox and red gear.
I do however only fly sport and mild 3D. No smack.
