I use the switch above the cyclic stick(Aux 2 on a JR12X).

Don't like to take my hand off of the stick when landing.

RIght side, top rear switch. It's an issue with my Futaba since that is a spring loaded momentary switch. But 10+ years of muscle memory dictate that is the TH / "I'm going in!" switch.

I used to have it there....and like you say..."The I'm going in switch"....

TH = "IGI" switch....lol

Then, I watched/met a really superior pilot....which is rare at my club field(mostly IMAC plankers there)....

The guy highly recommended that one should land using "mini autorotation" landings....and I took his advice to heart.

Worked very well for me, once I moved the TH(IGI) switch to just above the cyclic stick...so I could just "flick" it on without removing my hand from the stick.

I'm a neck-strap, stick pincher....if that matters....

Right side, top front. The top rear is a momentary switch and I use it for throttle cut.

That's how do it as well (Futaba TX). TH switch is actually a 3-pos switch, but it is programmed TH "OFF" for the rear and center switch position. So I pull it forward to activate TH.

The rear momentary switch is used for throttle cut on my nitro - closes the carb 100% to kill the motor.

Hey, I like nitro.....used to fly AMA pattern using exclusively YS engines....

Just got to hate the exhaust "gunk"....and with the advent of FBL controllers, decided to try electric helis...

Quite the challenge...but that's what makes it great....

I prefer to refer to the "gunk" as "self-lube and anti rust component"

I too just started to dabble in electric more for my everyday flier. Stretched Synergy E5, 606mm mains, 6S power. 1700 headspeed, using 5800mAh packs and only using 70% of their capacity and getting 9 minute flights with ease. Super awesome flying machine. Havent touched the nitro in months.

Right, top, rear. Switch "H" on my dx7 g2.

Where it was on my 6i so that's where I'm used to it being and being a thumber that's where my index finger rests anyway.

Plus that's where it is on the RTF tx for the little V977 I have laying around here somewhere. Can't change the position on that tx so don't want to complicate things by moving it on my other one.

Thumber, eh?...

I can understand that....you can reach it without taking your thumb off the stick.

Was always a pincher....even with fixed wings...I can't change now...lol

So that's why I moved the TH switch.....

Started with thumbs with planks, can't change now....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Lmao.
Starting thumbing after I quit using a strap due to a incident in my clueless drunken noob days.

Tried to go from a coax Airhog to a Walkera 450 off Craigslist converted to a Align 3s brushless system by another clueless noob.
Not knowing what TH was I leaned over to pick the heli up with the tx around my neck and maxed the throttle out with my body as I leaned. Barely got my arm/shoulder in front of my face before it shot up and disintegrated the mains across my upper arm and shoulder.

No blood but gave me welts that raised up higher than I thought was even possible lol. Learned all about TH that day and haven't used a strap since.

Thumbing allows me to keep a good grip on the tx. I don't have dumb thumbs, just a dumb brain controlling them LMAO.

All I ever did was crash that heli cause COG was way off from the positioning of the electronics and lipo. About gave up but found heli forums while doing part searches and started reading instead of crashing.

Well that's my heli life story...
