Who: New England Heli Crew
What: The Heli Phenomenon Returns!
When: September 7, 8, 9, 10
Where: 408 Elm St. Mansfield, MA
Why: Helicopters
How: We are going to talk about this event at every fun fly we attend. We will tell everyone who has ever owned a remote control helicopter how much fun Hibachi restaurants and flying for policemen can be. Leading up to this point, many have mentioned their fondness of many a past Heli Phenomenon. We feel obligated to bring back New England's Heli Crew to the map of helicopter fun flies. For these four days, please join us and remember yet another year of comradery in Massachusetts!

We have invited many top names in the hobby and are awaiting confirmation. Nick Maxwell, Jamie Robertson, Burt Kammerer, Tim Jones just to name a few. We are asking manufacturers who is able to attend, who they can get here, who we need to accommodate for, all this.

Camping is allowed! Thank you for asking. Though the field has no hook ups, we will have room for rvs, campers, tenting, etc.

A fellow pilot at IRCHA has inspired us to include a "Lawn Dart of the Event" prize. One of the donated raffle items is dedicated to that one person who piles in their machine at warp four and needs a Re-Kit.

Hopefully we keep this prize and everyone walks home with helis intact, but we all know this is NEVER the case with helicopters.

Thus far we have folks coming from all over the east coast for this fun fly. Florida, Delaware, Virginia, Vermont, Connecticut, Maine, just to mane a few states fellow pilots are traveling from. California too! Team AMain Hobbies will be there flying the bolts out of their helis, as well as pilots from Team Align.

Sponsors Include:

Amain hobbies
Rcproplus
Gensace
Protek
Rotorteck blades
Bk
Helidirect
Align
Scorpion Motors

As for events, what does everybody think about these activities?

-Speed runs
-Drag racing
-Open to any aircraft (or car) streamer cut
-Limbo contest
-On-the-spot Precision flight contest (you receive an unknown maneuver at the flight station, and fly it as best you can)
-Multirotor races (I figure daily at noon and possibly another time of each evening- depends on what that flight line wants to do)

Looking forward as well, hoping the weather forecast for Thu improves.

For those of us who are first time attendees, anything we should know about getting into the field, parking, etc? What time do gates open Thursday morning?

Hello! Gates open sometime around ten AM. There should be someone there early.

When you drive into the field dirt road (slightly hidden by some brush and trees, but will be well marked for this weekend) you'll pass the first field. This is not the main event. Keep driving (about another quarter mile) into the main field. You'll see commotion and a funfly setup. ( flags, banners, tents, the flight line essentially.)

No organized tenting besides motor homes to the south of the giant metal container belonging to NEHC, and pop-ups to the north. Please fill in (to the north) as you arrive, or choose a spot anywhere along the flight line you like.

Not too sure about map, compass, sexton and landmark navigation to the field as I've only done it twice myself years back and can't remember any potential hang ups that occurred navigating.

Hope this helps!
