This will give you some insight
- on the DX7
- explain how the GOV works for the Multi Gov
- use the concept to apply towards the AR7200BX GOV

GOVERNOR

Can anyone confirm the AR7200BX Gov will not work with the DX7 ?? Trying to setup nitro gov with this combo and can not get it to work thanks
I highly doubt you can use governor with a 7ch radio since the manual specifies for the SENSOR to be plugged into AUX3 (Channel 8). So chances are it is hard coded into firmware.

However, you could "try" sensor in Aux2. Switch its INPUT to F.MODE and adjust endpoint for two different head speeds, but Im skeptical.

Hopefully ScottyCali4nia can share how he did it.

I too would use AUX2 but then I don't mess with different HS on nitros as it makes little difference to flight time. I do it with electrics sometimes if I want a longer flight if im practicing something etc.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Did you enable F.MODE switch to Aux2

Did you set endpoints?

Test with engine off for red n blue LED

Seems last link uses mixes...if above doesnt work, follow those directions.

I did now enable aux 2 to fmod I put the rpm sensor in aux2 -- do I set both - and + end point to desired rpm 60% --- also what do I do with throttle curves do I have to say click idle up one "vcuve 50% or higher" then click the aux2 switch to get the gov working ?

Corrected LED colors to red n blue for set up purpose. (Sorry)

Did you go through the manual and programmed menu letters A-i on unit?
As well as parameters i to k ?

EEngineer posted a link to manual for setup.

IMPORTANT
If you can NOT get STATUS LED to turn RED while in setup MENU B when turning the crankshaft, the rest is futile.

Throtle is linear 0 to 100. Page 1 on manual

Verify throtle arm setup for proper servo to carb ratio since throtle endpoint must remain at default (100) Page 1 on manual

I would set endpoints in AUX2 to 60 and 65 for initial testing in order to verify your governor is indeed working and can get two head speeds. You should be able to hear rpm differences between those two settings. You can then lower high end point down to 60

You do not have to stick to increments of 5% as per the RPM chart.
So if 55 is to low and 60 is to high so you can use 58 (as an example)

Once you go below midstick (50%), governor will turn off.

MENU E
Verifies proper setup.

I had my doubts with sensor on Aux2, but you state you got the proper lights displayed during setup.

Seems to me if you got Menu B to display a red led to pulse when turning engine, then it "should" work as sensor is reading crankshaft rotation.

Only thing left to do before considering upgrading radio is to contact horizon to confirm if it will work at all as you have been trying (Aux2)

By the way, when you say it wont work, does engine rev higher as you increase throtle? Specially near and pass 3/4 stick position?

We must assume the fact that since you were able to access governor menu, it's due to FBL having been upgraded.

Now im wondering if adding a channel mix such as throtle to aux2 would make a difference. Something along the lines when throtle is equal or greater than 50%, Aux is equal to 60%

Servo monitor screen confirms sticks and switches position-output.

In the Spektrum manual, didn't they mention some S/W upgrade was imperative? Or some "caveat"....

menu B it only stays solid red ever ...

going to go over the whole setup again to make sure I do not have anything wrong -- If menu B is only solid and does not pulse on and off I guess that means its not reading the sensor correct... and rpm stays the same I am using a v curve in my idle up 1-2 --- but the AUX is set to 50-65% just to see if there is a rpm change and there is not
