A Facebook post by Hirobo today from the 2017 Shizuoka hobby show. Hirobo had earlier said new models would be announced.

Here is a picture from today's post with what looks to be a new electric helicopter.

Okay, finally some photos.

Yay.

So far, I like what I see.

Direct servo to swash linkages.

Helical gears.

Yes its technology.

Flybarless head, yes it looks like its been recycled from an SDX, but at least somethings been done.

I like what I see. I also quite like the parts recycling as it ensures parts availability for older models and some cross compatibility.

The big question is, where's the canopy? I'd like a small version of the Turbulence canopy perhaps. I'd also prefer it white with decals.

I wonder if its a prototype, why I think its a prototype.

The ESC to battery connection path looks a bit long.

The link rods from the swash to pitch arms look a bit thin.

In regards to the SDX plastic FBL head, I have an SDX with the stock plastic fly barred head that I converted to FBL by taking out the flybar. Its worked prefect. One of the things I did was to put in thicker link rods.

What would be nice, as well as a canopy, a tail boom cover, and also an option to stick in a nitro engine or a GT15HZ.

If its still a prototype, pending structural frame engineering etc, I would maybe remove that angled front part that the ESC sits on, make it flat, and lower the ESC closer to the battery tray.

Interesting to see the Hitec servos on a Hirobo helicopter, I thought they were in partnership with Futaba.

Also of note is the SDX/Sceadu tail. I like what I see, but where is the canopy and name?

Yep, exactly my thought, hitec servos, jeti esc and what seems so be a mmp gyro. but the assembled version is full house futaba. Don't know what to think here.

It could be the sdx canopy since it already has a sdx landing gear, head, tail...

I could live with the SDX canopy as I like it.

The SDX is also very similar to the D3 which I love. I like models that have a traditional look from their manufacturer. I guess I'm not as fond of excessive change these days!

Bad timing with the Synergy 516 coming out aswell!

Although they are a very popular size due to only needing one flight pack but still in the 'big heli' category.

P.S. those lower frames would need strengthening for me unless they are cheap but being Hirobo they won't be!

60% of the time, it works every time!

Really not sure about the bad timing comment. There are always many helicopters on the market. If you want a Synergy, buy one. If you want Hirobo, buy Hirobo.

I don't regard a 516 being in the same class as a 550 which is usually closer related to a 600. I certainly have no intention to ever buy another helicopter below 550 size as they are just not particularly exciting or engaging to fly in my opinion.

Regarding the lower frames, don't crash!

I'm really excited about this new helicopter and would really love to buy one.

Yes the lower frame could be a breakaway item in a big crash so that you don't have to change the whole thing but like you said, it might be a good idea on a protos 700 for example but it's gonna be pricy on a hirobo carbon kit!

for me a 550 is the "fun size" among big machines, smaller than that and I have trouble flying seriously and do some real training.

Hahaha, I like the name, the name on the display translates to English means 'Suddenly wake up', is Hirobo finally waking up?

The design looks good for a 550 size, less Hirobo traditional way but more TMRF's SDX conversion.
