and when 1/3 of the people are too busy gettin high to bother to show up to work (or leave halfway thru the day to get stoned) they'll be so happy that the stoners will be dependent on the government weed in exchange for votes. with the THC levels of the plants they grow now approaching 10x what it was in the 70s... you bet one drag will have you flying.

"Red Dawn 2030"

The joint forces of Russia & China drop rapid decent modules containing troops and equipment from high altitude into "stoner states"; they encounter little or no resistance as most of the populace is engaged in playing video games and layin around..what follows is a virus like takeover aided by terrorist cells imbedded in all states..coming to a theater near you!

Glad to hear it! Hopefully the whole Northeast follows suit.

Just a little historical knowledge. George Washington was a pot smoker.

I'm hoping it will give us in NJ some tax relief. A huge number of people smoke anyway, why not collect some tax dollars and create some legal jobs.

create some legal jobs.
what Jobs?

If your growing it in your own backyard... its not a job, your growing your own supply... I can see garden centers getting more business for fertilizers and irrigation items though... maybe even junk food store to handle the munchie outbreaks... granted most of these grow your own types will likely never find the store cause they think the're driving too fast when in fact all they are is stoned going down the highway at idle.

If you want to know about the jobs, look to the states that legalized it already.

https://www.cato.org/publications/p...a-legalizations

I have a few friends in Colorado. None of them have changed thier habits. The ones who did not smoke before still don't, the one who does use the stuff always did. Only difference is he buys from a dispencery and grows some of his own instead of giving his money to cartels. Prohibitions do not work, and the ONLY people who benefit from prohibitions are gangsters.

People are employed in legitimate dispenceries, farms, processing, distribution, best of all, the products can be heavily taxed, and regulated ... I dont like paying 50 grand or more per year to keep someone in prison if it is not absolutely necisary. There are many benefits to legalisation, and all of the downsides and more already were present prior to legalisation.

When the question comes up for vote again i will votes yes again.

Some time ago i looked up estimates on what the "war on drugs" was costing us. It was shocking, and they are not winning that war.

make no mistake, this is just another addictive substance...

are you willing to pay for the services that will arise from this addiction? we still dont know what long term effects of high THC is...

Ive had many friends lives destroyed by pot, I just lost a cousin last wekend, he started on pot, and moved up from there to narcotics, died from organ failure, his wife is in a wheelchair as she followed him through the nightmare and went further by mixing prescription drugs with the illegal ones, she doesnt even remember me due to the brain damage. Ive lost no less than 5 high school friends as a result and they all started on Pot.

Just like tobacco was supposed to be safe (and even recommended by doctors in the 40s- 50s)

now its linked to all sorts of crap that we pay for in medical insurance to cover those that suffer the long term effects.

Im all for the research, but many folks just wana get high and F#$K what effect it has on those around them. they want the THC (the compound that gets you high) but have no interest in the CBD that has proven to help kids with epileptic seisures.

Very sorry for your loss.

I have to ask. Was the pot and narcotics that killed your cousin legal?

Smoking tobacco has dropped quite a lot over our lifetime. I think that is great. but it is important to point out it was not because of some prohibition. Folks started making better choices.

I saw a very interesting comparison of teenage pregnancies in the US vs Holland. In Holland teens can have their boy friend or girlfriend over to sleep with in the parent's home. no sneaking around being chased by shotgun weilding fathers,,, no guilt trips, and yet teenage pregnancies are a small fraction of teen pregnancies in the US.

Sometimes you get what the law is asking for, somtimes you get the opposite.

Less addictive than alcohol. Maybe alcohol should be banned again? Ask any LEO who they would rather deal with. Someone drunk & violent or someone high and tame.

I don't use.

none of it was legal... the pot was a long time affair... then got injured, took prescription meds, abused them with the pot... then added coke to the pot for a bigger kick, then added the black market meds, then added all of it along with alcohol... and it eventually killed him and nearly killed his wife.

maybe it seems that some people can self regulate their consumption of most controlled substances... but most cannot and it destroys them and those around them and they become a burden to the system.
"Man is doomed to destroy it's own kind
aint that the truth... and we do it for the purpose of self gain which is the worst part.

RM3, you forgot to add that the State will not make any money off this program, the only money the state will save is the money they save from not prosecuting the small time users that will now legally smoke and grow their own 2 plants
