Oops, I stand corrected....
Not a big deal, glad you posted the link.
Did you see the speed results on Saturday?
Miles Dunkel at an average speed of....342kph = 212.5 MPH....
Wow.....
I looked for a video of Miles' run but it has not surfaced yet, I did find Robert Sixt' Speed-run here though ;

Watch at YouTube

I was really hoping that the TDR-II Speedy-version would come out on top but Miles was a bit FASSTer with his DiaBOLO S.

Best of Luck to all the Competitors in the remaining events

Well I was pretty sure that Miles was only able to complete (2) passes on Saturday's runs, said he had a small mech. issue.
What does TDR2 "speedy version" mean?
This is how it was listed for Robert Sixt' machine on the Pilot's spec. sheet (not sure that this is still up (?))
I'm thinking that there are a few "tricks" in that set-up

Congrats to all the Competitors and I thought that those of you would have liked to have known how well Kenny Ko had done

Miles Dunkel's runs. I don't think these would qualify for a world record as there is no 100m level pre-stage due to lack of space at the venue. But looks like there will be a challenge at the FAI Speed Trials in Ballenstedt, Germany in September.

I know the videographers are doing the best they can, but I can't see what the heli is doing just prior to entering the speed gates.

In one shot, it looked like Dunkel was just getting up high and far....and they executing a 1/2 roll and diving down.

In another, it appeared like another executed a 1/2 reverse Cuban 8 to make a pass through the gate....

Just wondering what the preferred technique is....

1/2 reverse Cuban 8 is the preferred maneuver to maintain momentum, but you have to be an excellent pilot with excellent vision to do it at that altitude and distance. For everyone else, there's the stratospheric stall turn.
