Given the post that RR will be shutting down in 60 days, I wanted to say "Thanks" to Mark

I never met him.
I have gotten a few PM from him (usually due to the "Hot Girls" postings).

But, I truly appreciated the site that he created.

I joined in '07.
That site was a big help when I decided to get back into RC helicopters after being out for 20 years.

I've made a lot of posts to this site over the last 10 years.
What's weird (for me) is when I Google search for something, and one of my old posts show up in the results page.
Sometimes I smile and think "Was I ever that naive?".
Other times I will look at the post and think "Wow, did I write that? It seems too smart"

What really hurts is that, based on my membership date, I've been back in RC helicopters for 10 years and I still can't fly for sh!t.

Thanks.

Simply stated - I would not be where I am at today with RC helicopters if it were not for the sharing of the wealth of knowledge and information this site has provided over the years.

I have enjoyed this hobby MUCH MUCH more because of RunRyder.

Me either!! But it sure is fun!

Thank you for everything. So so useful site and fast. I always come here, one of my very few favorite heli sites. I hope it will come back in the future.

LOTS and almost everything when i started out ...

When I joined in 2007 I had never even flown a helicopter but I got a cx2 and figured it could not be that hard what a mistake that thought was .

Thanks to runryder and all the people I have met on here I have learned a lot and have enjoyed the last 10 years flying now ccpm helis and large scale 3d planes as well .

I always come back here for info and to see what is new and exciting in the helicopter world hope it does not end like it sounds it may

Good luck to you Mark with all your future endevors and hope you find a way to keep this thing going we all would be truly lost without you hearding this thing along ..

I have been thankful for this site. Sometimes a different skill-set of flyers/builders were here - seemed more old school.

But I do think places like HF can take-up the slack going forward. Some boards here were starting to slow down.

But God bless the proprietor of this site if divorce is the factor in its closing.

I'm trying not to be sexist. I love my wife, sister and mother - very capable and smart women. But I do think a good chunk of the female population in the post nuclear USA have some type of emotional disorder in one way or another IMHO. Thus the etymology of hysteria, hysterical, hysterectomy, etc.

The content is always interesting. The membership is always helpful. And, I'll bet I have spent more money in the classifieds (without ever an issue) than I have ever spent in a hobby shop.

The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

RR has meant many things for me.

Over the course of 25 years in RC helicopters I have watched it go from a hobby of dedicated people who put effort into learning to a consumerist "yeah I know....your explanation is too long....omg...blah blah blah"

Mark walked the line between providing a place to really talk helis and having to do a little bit of the song and dance to keep the doors open.

I feel for Mark, this was the best RC helicopter forum but the business itself is in decline and that's that, there will be no resurgence of interest in this hobby that is profitable enough to maintain a website like this unless its run by Nazis, who really deserve this fate instead.

Good luck and thank you for good times Mark!

11 years, and RR has been my goto for information from others. Still my morning coffee and RR every morning.

Started reading and posting on Runryder when I was a teenager (17).

Now I'm about to turn 30.

What has Runryder meant to me?

It's part of my life.

Learned lots about RC helicopters and RC in general.

Still using the knowledge I learned from RR today and in everyday life.

Thanks RR.

education, interfacing with professionals and end consumers, developing friendships.

My hope is that the site gets sold, the data saved and reintroduced to continue along indefinitely.

I really enjoyed talking to people all across the world, one time some 7 or 8 years ago I received a PM from "Comet", he asked me about Vermont, and told me he lived in France and in his teens he would come to Vermont with his parents and ride dirt bikes threw the woods, the same thing I did in my teens, about the only thing I wanted to do when I was a teen.. and then, threw RR I talked to people in Spain about the old dirt bikes "Bultaco", that was enjoyable because I had owned 2 Bultacos in my early 20s and Bultaco's were made in Spain,,, yee-up> a lot of good people on RR

It's a great shame and saddens me that RR is closing. It has been such a good place to learn and share knowledge, certainly in the early days when rc helis were in their hayday. I've met some very decent folk on here, many of whom will be missed. I think Mark has done a fantastic job in providing us with, in my view, the best website of any I've ever come across, in both presentation and structure, and the consequent content.
Although I stopped interacting a few years ago, I do still have a look at what's going on with keen enthusiasm. I will greatly miss RR.

Mark, thank you for so much.

i joined this site long ago. i met a lot of good people here. i went to work overseas and still out of USA. I bought 2 Raptor 50s from a friend in Vegas. I finally upgraded my radio to a spectrum. and I still cant fly. I met one of the best pilots and friend here. Kenny Mores. He was a true friend. He passed away some 15-20 years ago but never forgotten. This hobby was great and still is. I miss flying with my friends in Vegas. Those were great days going to the field and staying all day on a sat and sun if work schedule allowed..I hope someone takes over the site.

this is the thing, a lot of guys who got into rc helis and stuck with it have come to rr at one time or another. Personally I like Marks progressive outlook, no moderators other than members deciding if something got too far off track. the videos are of broadcast quality.

Everything, as far as rc heli sites are concerned, regrettable path of demise ensuing, never got steamrolled by site mafia, gang, even with all those who chose to put yours truly on ignore.

Odd, I watched an old tv show about a husband and wife who parted ways because the man was essentially married to his job and the woman wanted time to enjoy life traveling during periodic vacations. Instead of sitting down and considering each other's need and wants with all due respect it appeared very few people are willing to make compromises for a greater relationship in the long term. Something to remember when getting married,
CONCESSIONS.
