I think this is the way to go... more efficient and more redundancy.

Isn't that just a modified quad with wings ?

I don't think it'll ever be certified for flight into known icing conditions

I was going to post the Kitty Hawk version but AirWorf beat me to it. I know they are also working on a flying car version. The one in the video is aimed at the recreation market.

That KittyHawk looks like a toy. Not even in the same ballpark as the one RM3 posted. Do not understand at all the KittyHawk and it's future.

Well, you asked.

I would consider the first example in this thread to be a flying car and the second to be a flying motorcycle.

A car will never be a motorcycle and vice versa. When only a motor cycle will do... I think that the second device will have an entirely separate marketplace. I hope both succeed. Imagine flying 50feet above homes and traffic on your air cycle on the way to work. You can't do that on a jet ski.

Both are going to be pricey for a while. That is nothing new.

have you not seen rush hour traffic?... 9 out of 10 vehicles (cars, trucks, SUVs) only have one occupant... the driver. In those cases, a motorcycle fills the need. But somehow we believe that we need a four wheeled 2 ton, 400 horsepower vehicle to get A to B.

Now imagine a whole stream of these flying things 50 feet over your home... everyday... with people that cant manage not to run into each other with just going forward & left right, now we want to add up down vertical abilities too.

these are all novel ideas, some more functional than others. but my guess is that it will be 20 more years before this is an everyday thing... price will be set high to keep the riff-raff away is my guess as will be a pilots license of some sort (sport pilot?)

That "vertical" variable will turn most all "fender benders" into fatalitys.
My guess is put another "0" on that "20" and make them all autonomous.

Maybe because they have seatbelts?

Here's another possible reason

http://www.ibtimes.com/china-traffi...-health-1910537

It will take an extremely high gas price hike to see more cycles in the road.

As AcE noted...Autonomous is the keyword. Cant agree on the 200 years but then again most likely not in my lifetime. In the meantime, let Dubai work out the kinks.

My hope is that it happens in two years.

And it pisses a lot of old people off.
