A Chinese Doctor was given a lawful order to get off the airplane. He refuses to do so, and even runs back onto the plane.

Talk about an entitlement attitude. Think about how many people would have been inconvenienced if those flight crew needing to get on that flight had not been allowed to fly. An entire plane would not have been allowed to take-off. The needs of a larger group are much more important that one individual.

I see this as nothing more than a rich person not wanting to be treated as a normal person. He could have afforded and flown biz or first class. No, he chose to be cheap. He would not have been subject to cabin class rules.

He also could have deplaned and explained his situation, instead he chose to ignore a lawful order of a police officer. He caused this entire situation.

It is the Doctor's fault entirely. To punish United Airlines stock is an abomination. I plan to book several flights on United that I normally would have flown another airline. Way to go United, you acted fairly.

No it is not sarcasm...

He was given a lawful order and every chance to leave. To give him a dime would be to award him for disruptive behavior.

If I were United, he would never sit in one of my planes ever again.

I look forward to my next United Airlines flight. Enough coddling.

That "dr." is a real piece of work;

I completely agree that the man caused the problem. While I may not agree with the airlines overbooking crap, this all could have been avoided. It's the way of the world now. If you don't agree with the law you can just ignore it and be rewarded! Entitlement attitude at it's best! The so called DR has quite the shady past as well!

Keep in Mind

Keep in mind that there was another flight that would have been scrubbed if four people did not get off the plane. They offered cash and rebooking. No takers... so which is the lesser, inconvenience four or 150? CEO is just playing the political correctness card. They followed procedure. This jerk was better than everyone else. Pay for biz class ticket if you want privileged treatment.

AND he is not much of a pro poker player either.

Police Order

You may not agree with a police order, but you cannot disobey. That is how people get shot. Follow the order and sort it out later. You can be dead right or living right, it is your choice.

I will not pretend to know the full extent of this, so I can only make an assumption on what I have read.

Dragging him off the plane was wrong. Say what you want, but it was wrong. However, I do not believe the rest of the passengers should suffer because of one.

So, what did they in fact offer him?

Money?
Free ticket?
Money and a free ticket and the next flight?
Nothing?

I don't know.

And it is going to cost them, no matter whether he is a scumbag or not. It doesn't matter.

Maybe they shouldn't have been so cheap in their offerings.

I think the guy's new name will be Very Wealthy.

United and the cops handled it wrong, period.

First, United should have handled it by not letting the passengers board untill they knew how many seats they would need for their employees.

Second, United offered $400.00, then $800.00. They are suppose to pay $1300.00 for a booking screw up.

Third, United loses when they let the passengers board and in their seats.

Fourth, calling the cops and allowing the cops to man handle and abuse a seated passenger is way over common sense business practices.

I hope the guy sues the schit out of United and the cops.

They had a flight crew of four that they needed seats for after everyone had boarded. They asked for volunteers, got none so they announced a random selection of people to be left behind and compensated.

Medical License revoked Dr. was selected, he pitched a hissy fit, ran back onto the plane and was dragged from the plane.

He delayed everyone else with his lies and deceit. If the four crew did not get on the plane the next plane would not be able to take off waiting on this crew.

Sure it could have been done better, but the airline does own the plane and the pilot can have anyone taken off for any reason.

Shed no tears for this guy.

yes I screwed that up, and when I realized it I couldn't get back to my computer to edit it

my son has flown a few times while in the Guard, he said that United didn't have a "Legal Reason" to remove the Doctor, my son added that once you board the Airline has to have a Legal reason to remove you, such as you are a threat, or a trouble maker exc exc exc

Because he's going to be rich, rich, rich! And some policemen and United's CEO are going to be jobless.

I understand your passion for the guy deserved it, but nobody deserves the brutal treatment and their civil rights being violated with abuse from law officers.

It turns out, that the flight was not overbooked. The United employees could have gotten on the plane afterall. United management had their heads in their ass, as well as the LEOs

Three others

Three other bumped passengers got off the plane. Then you have this entitled jerk. His plan cannot be disrupted because he is better than everyone else. When the police tell you to do something, I don't care if you are the king of Siam.

The flight was not overbooked, United needed four seats for employees, so they bumped four passengers. This so called convicted doctor caused all of his own problems. He practices medicine one day a week and the next day was not his day. So was he violating his medical probation?

If you have important business, you cannot wait until the last flight of the day to book travel. You need to be on the first flight in case of weather or mechanical delay. You might need to fly in a day early. I used to fly a couple of times a month. I have many international trips that I have flown. Never have I been treated poorly and yes I have been bumped. I was even stranded in Italy by a pilots strike. S happens, so be prepared for alternatives.
