Every year I get a gift certificate for Christmas from a family member. He always gets it from HeliDirect but accidentally got it from heli parts direct which really stinks cause I believe they are out of business and now the 100 dollars is just floating out there and I can't order anything. Of course they don't have any goblin parts, I would be happy with a little cheap drone or starter heli for my little nephew. Anyone know how to contact the owner???

Tha last activity on their Facebook page, as well as Twitter is early April, 2015.

If the place is really belly-up and gone, then your gift certificate is worth the paper it's printed on, and no more.

You're not going to get the money back, nor will you be able to buy anything with it, from a non-existent company. If they're gone, they're gone.

Helipartsdirect

On rcgroups there is a member named Howeroll. It is Adam the owner of Heliparts direct. He is a good guy maybe if you contact him he will help you out. He still posts parts for sale on there. Good luck, Dave

It will cost more than it's worth to get the law involved. There is no indication the gift certificate was issued with the intent of absconding with the money, and then going out of business.

Many years ago, the premier RC magazine, RC Modeler simply went out of business. People had paid and renewed subscriptions, but the publisher simply closed its doors. No refunds, no magazines, no nothing. They were probably the most respected mag of the times. I was one of those who renewed just before they stopped publishing.

But, things happen. Businesses don't plan to make money by closing up shop.

If anyone should be upset, it would be the purchaser of the certificate, and THAT would be the person who would have to file the complaint.

This is a cheap lesson. Chalk it up to experience and move on.

It happens all the time with gift cards. The retailers make a fortune selling those cards. They expire and/or value creeps to zero even on the big names.

I have asked my family to use the money for a nice meal on me rather than send a gift card.

It is not worth pursuing, you will spend more in aggravation. Especially if the business went bankrupt.

Magazines are different, most magazines are required to escrow the value of unused subscriptions. If you can catch them fast, you can get your money returned. Of course, that assumes they have not been dipping into the escrow. When business goes south, all bets are off.
