so its gas and electric?
Why?

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

very interesting...

the main gas engine provides the primary lifting power and the four other smaller electrics provide the stability/ directional controls...

good idea on how to solve the power/endurance issue.

but at that point its still less efficient than a heli power wise... still a cool idea as it IS mechanically simpler than a collective pitch traditional helicopter.

Very clever, I bet with a weedwhacker it would have great lifting capacity. How hard to you think the electric motors have to work to offset the engines rotational torque ?

not very much... he has two of the electrics already canted in their mounts to accomplish most of that (very smart IMO).

a bigger main prop geared down for the motor (more efficient), add an on board generator and bigger fuel tank.... you have a "penta" copter with serious flight time and payload capacity.

maybe even get away with three "outrigger" electrics (one rotated in mount)... then dress it up as a UFO... each of the three lighted up in bright white, the center in bright blue and the frame covered in black... the classic triangle UFO
