All manuals are available free for download, might be worth seeking them out to help you get things going. Remember that the Ikon is a relabeled MSH Brain, I've found it easier to search for their manuals and software.

I'm also a Mac guy, I use parallels with an old copy of Windows to set my stuff up when I'm at home and a cheap $75 windows laptop at the field. You can also get a Bluetooth interface for your Ikon that will let you use your phone to do setup. Either way you are going to want a way to plug it into a computer for firmware updates and setting changes.

I actually got it knocked out a couple
Nights ago. Got the kids cheapy laptop out of the shop. And got the gain cranked down. I should be good to go. Just need some decent weather. Insane windy yesterday. And supposed to be stormy all day today.

Out of curiosity is this an older Trex 500 with plastic tail blades?

Then my advice would be to get the carbon ones, you will be able to run much higher tail gain and have better tail authority as a result.

Sounds good. I'll shop for some tail blades. Still haven't gotten a chance to fly the little thing. Been too busy. The days are running out of light on me quick.
I like that idea of a cheapy $75 tablet. Just so long as it's got a regular USB port I suppose. Or would a micro USB work as well I wonder.? Anyway, so long as they keep running I've got the kids Pc laptops.

Given you are not into 3D, you can optionally get KBDD EXTREME tail blades which comes in bright colors and inexpensive.

Josh it can't be a tablet unless it's actually running Windows. That is to wire it up directly. HP has some super cheapies at new egg.

If you get the Bluetooth adapter then Android tablet will do. But then be careful because I think there is one adapter that only works for iPhone.

Issue still there, plus a new one now

ok I got a flight in.
This bird Is doing some weird stuff.

Maybe I'll try to upload a vid soon.
ok, so this is something I noticed on the last pack I ran BEFORE I lowered the tail gain 10%.

Early in the battery life, theres a wag. Not the FFF buzz saw wag Ive been complaining about. This one is new. This is right off the bat, and its slower. And Its not at high head speed, and Its at hover, or really at any range. There seems to be some vibration with it as well. It looks sloppy and bothersome. But only for the first minute or so. I didn't even bother getting to fff testing because I could see that the original wag might still be there during a powered climb out.

I did notice a slight pull nose left that was new too. Not sure what thats about. I suppose the trim might have possibly gotten one or two notches out of center. Maybe thats whats up?, but this new wag... so odd. Never seen one do that before. and like I said, after a minute, maybe a minute and a half, it slowly gets better until its gone. Toward the last 2.5 minutes, it seems fine, well, the new wag anyway.

Anyone seen this before?

I checked the tail and supports, everything feels nice and tight. but no binding.
I did order some carbon 70mm tails.

Could this be from accidental trim on the transmitter?

you know I remember the first trex600 i had put together with all stock items purchased from Rons, it had a 100A ESC and stock motor... it flew ok, but during simple stall turns or anything where the motor would draw more power the heli would shake the tail... I tried everything mechanically and gain wise, it was fly barred with a GY401... after a long 3 months trying everything it turned out to be electrical noise from the ESC through to the internal BEC powering the RX system. the solution was a simple Capacitor filter connected into the RX... the tail shakes went away.

maybe you have electrical noise in the system causing issues?

yup that simple...
as for finding some:electronics part store... Radio Shack used to carry discrete electronics parts... other online like Jameco, digikey... I cant recall if anyone made anything specific for our use that you could just plug in though...

otherwise breaking open an old radio, AC adapter/Charger usually has em...

Well that depends on the Nick.

Don't underestimate the tail as a source for vibes. It spins much faster.
