Black helicopters don't get oily, they just get shiny! I like it

great...
last thing I would want is for people to go off at something I asked...
I'll just wipe the oil off... and fix it at the convenient time
and in the mean time I'll keep flying this helicopter as I am ejoying it a lot...

well... since we're on the topic... how long do you guys fly before your tank is empty...?
I put in 3/4 of fuel in a standard Vario fuel tank and I got 7,5 min.... I almost ran it dry but luckily I noticed it before it would be too late...

Head Speeds

Depending on your blades and gearing, about 10-12 minutes on a full tank, maybe a bit longer depending on your flying style..
On 725 blades max hs is listed 1450
On 800 blades max 1250

OK so I did OK on 3/4 of gas... I fly in a scale manner... tend to do slow turns but sometimes the helipoter just wants to go faster. Nothing fancy though. Definitely no 3D...
and I need to slow down a bit... I believe I was way faster than 1400RPM...

And this is why I fly 4 servo setups...

A longer intro... been busy with work and family and "stuff and things" so I haven't flown "much" lately and finnaly found a suitable platform (Vario Frankenheli) to get back in the routines...

Been exploring the gasser world and longer flight times and SLOWLY building my flight stamina again...
So after a few days just hovering in all sorts of directions today I decide to go for a spin...
nothing fancy... not even fast... just some 4 min of gentle circles and then I came back to do the 6 min hover practice...
thinking back at the whole flight it was a bit odd as I had to apply a gentle left and back on cyclic to keep in steady... but I though that this is due to my last moment Vbar adjustments (although I just increased the governed speed and upped the tail gains a bit)... but I did not over-think it as I was enjoying the flight and the day in general...

Everything was fine... a bit itchy due to the wind gusts but really nothing significant... until I set the heli down to take the battery readings for the flight log...

when I saw this...

First was a sigh of relief as the heli did not crash... but then I started thinking... I did have to apply a constant collective just a tad bit...

the moral of the story is USE THREADLOCK....
but the findings of today are that a loose servo horn in a 4 servo setup will save your helicopter... and that Aligh DS 610 are quite capable of handling these forces....

So what you're saying is that you forgot to use threadlocker ?? Or just on that one servo ??

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

While re-reading your post I see that you are not the original owner/builder...... given your recent "lucky incident " , I would be inclined to check the rest of the nuts/bolts to make sure everything that should be is properly locktighted .....
You may not be as lucky when the next thing comes loose ...... there is a lot of vibes with a gasser that you don't see on electrics ......

Thanks for the heads up. I did just that... Took it all apart and re-greased and re-thread locked it all... (was checking the bearings but they work fine)...
It was this one servo I forgot to use TL on...
almost payed the price...
