I have been flying my scale EC135 with t-rex 700 flybar mechanics, around for a few weeks with no problems, until yesterday. The one ball I did not check for loctite came off. Fortunately it was on the ground and the only damage was a stripped main gear.

I stripped it down today, and found that the main gear was 115 teeth straight cut not slanted. Every gear I can find for any T-rex700 has slanted teeth.

Has anyone any idea where I can get a straight cut 115 tooth main gear for the 700, or should I just buy the slant 112 tooth and 12 tooth slant pinion?

Curiously enough, the tail gear drive is slant cut

Though you may be able to scavenge a gear from a member on the forums here or elsewhere, I would keep up with the times and upgrade to helical.

Also, if your going to change the gears, it's a good opportunity to change the gear ratio. Just a thought.

Go with Slant Gears.

Peter, could you provide a few details about the Fuse? Sorry about the troubles. I would go ahead and go slant.

Thanks for your help and advice guys. The options to change the gears don't help as it seems the smallest pinion I can get is a 12 tooth and I don't want a higher head speed.

I have decided to take both sets of advice and have ordered the correct gear for this model, thanks Banshee, and also ordered the helical gear set as well so if I have the problem again I will change it. At the moment I can change the main gear without removing the mechanics from the fuse, which is a good thing as to remove the mechanics, you start by removing the fenestron from the tail and work forwards.

Heli splatter, there is a full build up of this kit here
