What I did notice though was how thin the boom looks for it's length (flex city!), that could potentially be an issue. It looks like they HAVEN'T shortened the 800 Pro boom but instead lengthened the 700 boom so they can sell as a conversion for the 700's. This probably explains the tail flutter during the high speed funnels.

I'm not sure why they don't do a larger boom like the hd cell or the agile I think has one also.

Backward comparability older models for drop in upgrades. Currently there is a stretch option for 760. If they change the boom size all the TT assembly need to change like the tail hub,TT bearing holders ... Then the hobby stores will bitch that there is too many parts to sock. Align does over lap parts from other models to keep the part count down.

All they are missing is a 14S motor a new MX. The hobbywing 160A ESC Platinum V4 which is now supplied in new 700X supports 14S.

Unfortunately the Nitro market is almost dead. ROI is just not there for anyone to make products.

You can stretch them with the X5 boom etc. and run a 55 conversion! A friend of mine has one and says it's insane!

The reason nitro's are going away is because there is literally only a few 700 size to be had and they are mega bucks! I reckon Align could do a 550N cheaper than the NX4 alone!

No calculate operational cost per flight nitro vs the most
here is a example
700N DFC with 105/120 engine size about 6 flights per gallon.
Morgan Fuel Cool Power 30% Nitro Heli Fuel (Four Gallons) on amain is 118.99 ~ 120 so $30 per gallon (over priced), I can get 30 power master for $20.
so lets assume for for easy of calculation $24 per gallon. so That is about $4 per flight (about 6 mins).
Now 700X with lets say TP 5000 MAH x2 so $199.99 x 2 $400
$400 / $4 = 100 anything more the 100 flight is in theory cheaper to operate. if you include the flight times 4 min electric vs 6 min nitro so that would be 100 * (6/4) = 150 so anything more the 150 the electric is cheaper to operate.

Now on Guia NX4 which uses .37 engine you get about 20 flights per galon so $1.20 per flight. A 550 size is the same class lets assume you use a 5000 6S setup and again using TP $200/$1.2 anthing more to 167 flights the electric is cheaper.

I know these a crud calculation but personal Nitro at least 2 to 3 times more expensive to operate then electric. Also look at manufacture of pipes and engines. Hatori for example drop support for 105 and 120 size motors. Yes there is a 120YS pipe you can get but only available in Japan as an import. You can get a OS tune pipe for 105 but it sucks. If Align would invest in a 550 (AKA raptor 30 size) they moslty would have to support not only there kits , but engines and pipes. Big headache.

I'm been tring to sell locally a 700N LTE with 91 HZ-R (sport Red Head), hatori pipe, cgy 750 and Align servos for 6 months and not even 1 person is was interested for $700 or made an offer. I might get lucky online.

Almost forgot one tuning a engine is 1000 more complicated then a governor setup on electric for a newbie. Also as funny asking a them fly/setup a FB heli.

Did you just go there?!

Anyway whatever the cost per flight flying ONLY electric helis gets boring and tiresome!

Being a 550 it would be cheaper to repair and being nitro with the longer flight times and the ability to fuel, fly, fuel, fly all day it would be the perfect learning/fun machine.

I have a Logo 550sx with 3 good packs (I had 4 but one got tired) and I just can't be bothered going out for 3 flights and then fanny around recharging. I looked into getting more packs but I would buy maybe 2 at the most and that would be ££££££!! and I would still only have 5 4 minute flights!

60% of the time, it works every time!

I will agree Nitro is still in my blood. But unfortunately market and parts are not there anymore. I sold my 700 DFC with YS120 very cheap to my friend. After few gallons the hatori pipe failed on it. We could not source a replacement pipe. At lease we where able to weld it back up get it back up in the air. Its just sad sad, sometimes worried about the heli market collapsing too. Look back personal I think the peak was about 2011/2012. Look on how many manufacture died in last 5 years.
