I have a 550e which I have flown without issues for the past 3 years. This weekend at the field, I lifted off and when I went from hover (linear curve) to idle up (90% flat throttle curve) the tail came around and it started to fall. I hit throttle hold and auto'd without damage. Others agreed that it sounded like the headspeed was way too low coming out of hover, so I bumped up the throttle curve and took out a little pitch in the middle. I flew and it was good going into idle 1 and idle 2. However it seemed to drop headspeed on anything that took much pitch. Once it dropped, it did not recover back to the original headspeed when I went back to hover.
I landed, put in a new battery, took off and done two flips and again the headspeed dropped and even in hover did not recover. It is as if I am loosing a little headspeed every time I pull any pitch and it don't return even on a new battery and flight.
- I have tried 3 batteries, 2 of which were new and only used for their 3rd flight
- I have went over the entire heli and nothing is binding and bearings are confirmed good
- Have checked one-way bearing and it is not binding or slipping
- I would have expected if speed control that it would be all or nothing but not sure
Looking for ideals or suggestions. Motor going bad? Speed control?
