"Hi, has anyone heard of a major player in the hobby winding their company up?"

Ready Heli should be one major one that comes to mind.

That is, if a major hobby distributor is included.
What do we attribute this too? Fewer people in the hobby? Too many sales of toy like stuff that ANYONE including eBay sellers can sell?

I just copied the link from the JR Propo site. If that's not accurate then who should we turn to for news?

Sorry chaps but I just realised I didn't ask the original question properly: it should have read "Has anyone heard if a major player is about to make an announcement that they are going to stop trading in the near future". I take it that the answer is "negatory" . Many thanks anyways.

My phone won't allow me to open the JR Propo site link posted but if it is the one I think it is it doesn't say anything about going out of business. Just that there is going to be a delay in stuff and that there will be no new development of helis. Nothing about going out of business

Even if you worded your question that way all it is still is hearsay and speculation. Please let the companies announce their intentions instead of causing turmoil for them by saying things that may or may not be true. We need all the companies we can get

I just asked a question which I have admitted I could have worded better but still asked for an affirmative answer. I didn't ask for speculation, that was injected by someone else.

So who is going to care about me when I buy products from companies on the verge of bankruptcy? If the information is out there, I should not be prevented from seeing it.

Too darn bad if it accelerates their downward spiral. Where is my consumer protection?

When ever I buy something on RunRyder, eBay or Amazon I can look at reviews and aggregate results on the company. Where the heck is the consumer protection from Sears/K-Mart? We need information to judge the financial health of companies before we buy their products. Too darn bad if it is negative.

It isn't if it is correct but most are not. If it isn't true it is meaningless. If it is true it means something yes. Problem with these types the threads a lot is just hearsay. Take align for instance. A year or so ago the talk was they were done. Going down the tube. Well look at them now. They are just about as strong as ever.

My point is false information means nothing. If it is true that is fine. Problem is not many ppl look into what is true or not. They just say what ever they happen to hear whether it is correct or not

"Have a right to know what?
What is "common industry knowledge"?

Hobbico is a private company. They are not public, not traded on any stock exchange. As a result they dont have any legal requirement to make public disclosures of their financial situation."

For once, I completely agree with you....

"What do we attribute this too?"

Marty, what I heard was that the owner made some very bad decisions. His "aquarium" shop also closed.

Then, RH lost their distribution rights to Mikado.

Fortunately, Gorgin took up the slack and was able to secure the right to distribute Mikado products in the USA.....and Mikado USA was born.

And the quality of service of Mikado USA is every bit as good as RH was.

When I bought my outrage velocity N2 I thought it was a really great heli and it was ......UNTIL they decided to abandon it and start making the Goblin and leaving me in a lurch by abandoning the velocity. I think I have a right to know weather a company is on solid ground or about to fold, and that is the reason why I will not buy a Goblin.

Rpat you would be incorrect. While they do have some things in common they were not the same company. SAB that owns goblin in a company in Italy. The outrage helicopter was a Charlie Stephens designed Heli from here in the states. At the time of the outrage was when he worked for Helidirect. There is one of the things in common. SAB was an exclusively distributed here in the states by Helidirect. I don't know if that is still that way or not

Second thing that they would have in common is that I think they were made in the same factory in Vietnam as are several other brands of helis. If anyone else has more information than that hopefully they will chime in

But Chris is correct not the same company
