Had anyone ever been screwed in here from the buy and sell section? I'm taking part in a trade. I know it's a risk but I'm pretty sure I just did. This would be the first time for me if that's the case. Is there a " good and bad list" here. I've seen a list on Facebook and the his name isn't on the either.

I've sold a couple of things and bought even more. Every member, and every transaction, has been fantastic. While I might have been lucky, I'd like to think that the average RR member is a great and upstanding person.

Scammers don't seem to last long here, and deservedly so.

Yeah me as well. And never a problem. It's a trade, I sent the item this last Tuesday and it arrived that Friday and someone accepted it. Not sure who. But no word after I said I was gonna send it. Still no email since then. I understand life and a job but dang.

If he had good feedback, You probably don't have anything to worry about.

There are people who have had bad experiences here.

If you want to check someone's transaction history, look up their username here:

https://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/f114p1/

You can also click on their username and a box will pop up. Click on their username at the top of the box and you will be taken to their profile page. There is a link "My Classified Feedback". Click that to see each transaction and feedback for that person.

I bought a Trex 700 nitro from a member off the other forum. Majorly screwed. Paid 1200. Engine was rusted solid, cyclic servos had 5 servo plates to space them from hitting in frames. Tail servo was burnt out. Main shaft, feathering shaft, tail boom were bent. Entire dfc rotor head was shot to pieces so had buy a new one. The list goes on and on. Said there were two rx batts, sent one. Carry bag, never sent it. In fact I'm thinking about going back and adding a complete negative feedback just to pile this guy to the ground.

I haven't bought here yet but I have quite a bit over on HF. I've never had a bad deal or even had to wait over a week to get something. Until I build a reputation here I guess I'll have to refer people to my ratings there.
I think most folks in the RC heli community are pretty reliable and honest. I do have a buyer today getting a copy of RF-X I decided not to pursue. I just can't see putting the money needed into a high end PC to run it well right now.

The existence of the feedback system proves that people have had bad deals. I've had hundreds of deals on here, and only one that was really bad where the guy just straight up stole hundreds of dollars from me. When I'm deciding what to buy/sell/trade I always look at the feedback and weigh it against the price of the item being offered. If it's great deal and there is no feedback, or mixed feedback, I'll use a credit card through PayPal so I can reverse the charges.

Trades? Unless it's someone I know, either in real life or from here over the years with past deals between us, I don't think so. The only way that's happening is if the other guy sends it first.

If you don't get any satisfaction, post his name and location and maybe a member can help you out. It has happened.

When buying anything used by mail take the time and investigate the seller. You can frame a good picture of the seller just by the posts they have made. The other way of avoiding a scam is by buying local and seeing the item before the purchase is made. I recently sold two helicopters that were listed on this site and the buyer was satisfied.

Well over the years I have purchased many many complete helicopters. I would say 1 out of 50 transactions have problems, but considering that the latest and greatest RTF helicopters are selling for 40-60 cents on the dollar you are still coming out ahead even if there is something major wrong with it. Like a bad motor, esc or servo. If you don't want to take a risk getting a bad item then you can always pay 200-500% more for it new. That is how I see it.

I had sold some helicopters back in september of last year and the person received everything as described.
two days ago i receive a hold on my paypal account saying that the buyer did not receive the item and that paypal was reviewing the complaint.Well I was livid and tried contacting the buyer and he was on here but did not respond.
Finally after proving everything was sent and providing proper tracking numbers etc,the buyer stopped the complaint and told ebay that wthe claim had been "amicably resolved".
The buyer then contacted me saying " I only wanted the tracking numbers" that piece of crap was trying to get his almost $800 back from me after receiving the helicopters.

Always had good experiences in the classifieds on RR and most of the other RC sites too. The feedback system works, but you have to look at who is leaving that feedback. Example a member with three positive sales and three buyers that are new recently joined with no other posts......

I made a mistake once, but I was wrong?

I have NOT had a bad experience here.

At work, we have what we call "professional thieves", people who know the system and will intentionally rip you off. It's legal theft, and they are many out there that know the law and system. Sad, but true. Two amounts were over $20k! Most are under $1,000.

In non Helo areas, I have been ripped off twice. That's why I only use PayPal which protects both the seller and buyer.

I think that the PayPal system protects the buyer way more than the seller. When selling, I always include insurance and tracking in the sales price. Paypal dings the sellers account way too fast.

You really have to be prepared to prove that you sent the item. Even then, your money can be tied up for months. Still, there is no better way and if the buyer knows you are protecting yourself, they will not try any fast ones.

Yes I've been screwed over

Did a trade deal and we both were supposed to ship the same day and exchange info. Well mine shipped as planned and send info out. But on his end it was always a excuse cause he was on a oil rig and his brother was suppose to ship it for him.

I'll post his name in other post I'm writing.

I lost a very nice warbird to him and extras

As the seller, I always pay the extra couple of bucks to require a signature for delivery. Best way I know to protect myself as a seller.

Usually the best way, fortunately I sold a hunting rifle. The receiver tried to state he never received it. His signature stated otherwise!

I always look at the sellers/buyers feedback which is a great help.

Dennis

On of the biggest problems is when a person receives the goods, he states it's damaged, or has some other problem. Again, PayPal will also protect you on these situations.

I stopped buying used Lipos that's for sure, you think I would learn after getting several bad ones but stupid me kept on buying them, I would always ask, are they solid, are they puffed at all, still have good power, yes yes yes to all my questions, get the battery and they are either worn out with no power or puffed. So yes I have been screwed over several times, only one bad helicopter, it was worn out.

I do hope it works out for you.!!....
