I see this & think its GREAT, but I think it CAN be mis-used..
I.E. someone with low flight experience wants to learn a Piro-Flip. LOOKS SOOOO COOL!!! So he learns the 'Musle-Memory' & TA-DA, new AWESOME MOVE!!
Then while doing them, he gets out of 'synch' OR a servo starts dying OR some other failure happens, and suddenly its going away, inverted, tail first in a slide... Pilot FEEEZES (un-familiar heli attitude) & watches it go in HARD!!
Just mentioning this, cuz & know pilots who didn't get their Basig Orientations down 1st, and have done EXACTLY this.

Let me say again, I think its GREAT & I would use it myself for improving my flippy tumbly moves, but it could give some pilots a short-cut to More Crashes..

@AVIrem: Can we record our own videos and stick movements for sharing?

Richard,

Again I could be wrong but you're missing the point in that it is NOT a simulator.......I would call it a "muscle memory training device".....

After "learning" a maneuver with this tool, you'll have to practice it on a simulator such as RealFlight , etc., or with the real thing out at the flying site.....

Of course the former would be preferred for reasons already stated by Dan Minick......

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Not wishing to show my ignorance, but what happens to the pledged funds in the kickstarter campaign should the project not come to fruition ,ie any total refund?

Thanks

No money is taken upfront, it's only a pledge. Once the goal is reached, your account will be debited.

They're over 30k on the first day, so it looks like they will make the goal. I think the normal pledge curve is a U. Lots of pledges in the beginning, then drops off for most of the pledge period , followed by a flurry on the last day.

It would be nice to see this one succeed.

Thanks Richard for clarifying this. Show how much I know about these crowd funding things. BTW , are you a 'pledger' ?

Kind of a bummer having to go out into another sim to practice the learned stick inputs. Would be real nice if there was a way to easily de-clutch the servos to use the radio in sim mode and then re-engage the servos to go back to stick learning mode.

Only for 3D?

@AVIrem:
Is it only for 3D training, or will you also provide scenes for big room aerobatics, or even FAI style precision flying?

A few questions.

When using this product is just a video clip of the maneuver played back on the PC with the stick mover in sync or are you watching a computer generated image?

Would it be possible to integrate this stick mover with other simulators that have an option to show you the stick movements used?
Real Flight can show you the stick movements so the data on stick position is there. I don't know if it would be possible to export to the stick mover box though.

Would it be possible to use the stick mover at the field, live, using a standard buddy box? It would be great to be able to plug into another pilots TX and feel how his sticks are moving with the stick mover as he is flying.

The StickMover offers an API. So in general this is possible! After successfully closing the project on kickstarter, we like to get more into detail with this functionality.

We are already in contact with producers of RC simulators.

What you see at the moment ist just the beginning. We already prepared the hardware for more use cases

Today, we have some very interesting news fro you:

FPV:
Besides AEROFLY we now cooperate with NEXT Flight Simulator, which is going to be very interesting for FPV-pilots. We’re really happy to present you the first FPV AVIskills soon.

F3C:
Christoph Hammer (3rd place winner at European Masterships in Poland) is currently recording the first F3C skills you’ll be able to see and feels at the RotorLive tradeshow on March 11th and 12th. Thanks for all your mails regarding F3C!

Aeroplanes:
Our pilot Robin Trumpp has already performed and recorded lots of AVIskills. At the moment, he is in Australia and has a StickMover with him. Once he has returned, we will start recording with him again to make sure our database keeps growing continually.

Preview:
This weekend is going to be exciting: We’re going to meet some of the best FPV pilots to record some AVIskills.

Thanks for your attention. Please share our kickstarter campaign with your friends - we appreciate any support!

Is the video of the helicopter a capture from a computer simulation or is it a video from an actual flight?

What will be the final price after the funding is closed and normal production begins?

Hi BrianApp,

yes you are right, the AVIskills (thats how we name the videos) are captured with a modified simulator. We work together wit Aerofly and NEXT.

But we also can capture flights in real nature. As soon as it is getting warmer, we will be outside and take new videos.

The price after the kickstarter campaign will be 350 €

Greetings Kate

That is expensive but I hope it works for you. I don't know if it is priced high because you are anticipating low volume but I think that will cut off a lot of the market for a training aid like this. It must mostly be to cover the software development.
