I am having trouble getting the Return to Home feature to work on my Yuneec 500.

Calibration is OK, all other features work exactly like their suppose to.

When switching to Return to Home, it just stays in it's current position, no movement.

Any ideas?

When you say calibration is ok, Does that mean it hasn't been done in a while?
Anytime you have a problem, It's always good to re calibrate where you are using it.

Make sure you are in the correct mode.

I calibrated the unit 3 times yesterday just to make sure. The transmitter shows it went into calibration mode, and it finished out just like the instructions state.

"Correct Mode?" I don't have the "follow me" or anything else on. I am simply pushing the switch all the way down. When doing so, It hovers and doesn't move. No light changes on the LED lamp.

Smart Mode works perfect, and Pilot Mode work perfectly, that's the top position, and the middle position, but the lower position, Return to Home does nothing.

Thanks for your help,
Dennis

How many satellites do you have?
Did return home ever work?
Has it been crashed?
Do the lites on the quad change when you put it in return home?

Are you allowing the unit to get a GPS lock on the ground before you take off? I used to do something similar with a Blade 350QX. I would take off before aquiring a GPS lock and then allow it to get a GPS lock in the air. After that happened, hitting "home" would result in the quad returning to a position in the air.

9 to 11 satellites, GPS ready on.

The unit is "Brand New", this weekend is the first time I flew it. I had a Chroma that worked flawlessly, so I am somewhat familiar with the drones.

NEVER crashed, 3 batteries cycles only on this unit. And that was this weekend.

The light changes from Smart Mode to the middle position, "Pilot Mode", then NO change takes place when switched to the Return Home mode, third switch, all the way down.

Note: on the screen that shows actual switch positions, I know it's somewhere in the menu, it will show the switch is in position 1, it shows it switching to position two, but WILL NOT show it's switching to position 3.

Again, I just unboxed the unit last Saturday. When I had my Chroma, I calibrated it and it worked perfectly right out of the box.

Gerry Cullan,
YES, I wait for the unit to lock on the satellites. GPS monitor on transmitte shows "GPS" ready, and will show an avg of 9 to 11 satellites.

When switching to Return Home, nothing happens, NOTHING. It will just hover in a fixed position.

Hope this helps,
Dennis

I think on the Q 500 the lights should turn to red in return home mode. Is it the ST10+ tx or the ST10?
With the ST10+ there is a calibrate screen in the tx.
Give Yuneec a call, they are quick to reply.

If you get it figured out let us know what the problem was.

Beginning to sound like a defective switch. Unusual, but it can happen.

There is a screen that shows "all" switch operations, it's in the menu on the transmitter.

Every switch works, and you can calibrate the sticks and switches. All passes, EXCEPT the Return to Home, it stays Red.

I think the best thing to do is send it back. I understand you can connect to a computer, but I am not going to mess with it since it's new.

The only way is if someone knew a quick check or fix.

I spent about an hour going over the quad and transmitter.

Didn't help.

Sending back to Yuneec tomorrow, they are at a loss, but said they would figure it out.

UPDATE: Yuneec requested me to send the Radio in. I did.

Thursday I received the unit back.

It does not communicate with the quad. The camera shows a picture, but the Gimbal doesn't work or respond.

I have tried resetting it, and several times, I tried to calibrate the units. Everything related has been gone through and checked, that is everything in the TX software.

I laid it down yesterday, thought I would search around a little, then try to get the TX & RX to cooperate.

The two front lights are "white", the two rear lights are "Red". The blue blinking lamp at the rear of the quad is blinking fast, which I understand that means it's trying to Bind.

Any ideas to get me started?

The above Video worked.

PERFECT, I re-bound the Quad and Camera, plus re-calibrated it.

ALL works fine, screen is showing everything correct.

I will have to try it out this morning
