They advertised the hell out of the premier with the notion that the legendary shop is back. My first reaction was "Who?"

So I watched a little and I gotta say. I don't get it.

The man boy shop owner got with the man boy pop star Justin Bieber to partner up. So Bieber gets custom car shop street cred and the man boy owner gets deeper pockets. Ok?!?

They are cake decorators of the car world...the Orange County Choppers if you will. Don't get it, kids that aged but never grew up, no respect.

No Boyd Coddington or Chip Foose. That's for sure.

Never understood the appeal of Boyd Coddington's stuff. I really never liked his style. I think he thought he was Magnum PI. He was a legend in his own mind and was known to be nasty.

Chip Foose...the real deal with staying power for a long time. His stuff will appreciate over time, no doubt. And an all around nice guy and genuine genius. Pretty much everything Boyd wasn't.

I've been watching a new one... Bitchin Rides. They turn out some cool stuff, but the main guy who owns the shop is trying to be the new Foose. Good ideas and he seems like a good guy, but you NEVER see him get his hands dirty. Whereas Chip (he IS the man) is chest deep in every build.

I liked most of his cars, but if I was good enough to work for him, I would not work for him, so I agree that the guy's head was to big for his own good.

and the way he treated that kid that worked for him (I think his nickname was "Bear" ), Boyd treated him like crap then fired him for not welding his own Rod'd Frame the way Boyd told him to

I "kind of like" Bitchin' Rides but that Kevin person reminds me too much of ChumLee (persona not physical size) from Pawn Stars, so I seldom watch anymore.

I remember that episode, The kid's nickname was Blue Bear. Boyd wanted him to box his frame and Blue Bear didn't want to.

I enjoyed watching Boyd's builds but the drama was a little too much sometimes. I thought the shop manager was an ass who treated the guys with no respect at all.
What ever happened to Boyd's second wife the "beauty queen"?
