Nice flying Phil. That is one of my favorite paint schemes. I noticed a little bobble when you were getting ready to land. How high are the FBL gains set?

Hi Barry, Thanks for the tip, i'm re-checking the gains (I had them turned down)...and I had also noticed the tail rotor grips had some play in them, and when I got home from the field, some new ones had arrived....I did make a second flight and let loose a little and really enjoyed flying this larger heli, so solid and deliberate in the air....I am flying this 700 on a single 6s 5Kmah lipo, and got two 5-minute flights on a battery while I was testing the mechanics.

Hi Phil, if you turn the gains up and the bobble persists, or gets more pronounced, check the head dampers. What head speed are you running?

Thank you, this big Hughes is a real pleasure to fly....
Hi Barry, i'm not sure what head speed it's turning, but it seems OK and I kinda like the lower HS and occasional barking,... and Tailkiller, the motor is an Align 530kv, with Castle esc and Hercules bec, Savox servos, and Align blades, and i'm powering it all up with a Pulse 5K 65C 6s lipo.

Phil.. For stock gearing with the 700x of 110/12 on a single 6s pack your starting rpm is 1150 with the ESC at 100%. So from that point forward your rpm is in a constant state of decline. I suspect that by the time your battery reaches 22.2v That the rpm will be 950/1000 rpm. You should feel this rpm drop by needing to increase the collective to maintain the same altitude. There's no telling what your final rpm is at the end of the 2nd 5 minute flight on the same pack but it will surely be lower then you would want to fly on.

Hi Tailkiller, Thanks for the insight, i'm not a real technical pilot ( and it drives my flying buddies a little crazy) i'm more of a 'seat of the pants' pilot, and set-up my helicopter by sound and feel ( I know it would be better, but it's a little hard for me to understand and i'm still learning)...I do fly with a low voltage alarm, and after two 5-6 minute flights, I have not felt any drop in power, and my lipo is reading about 3.82v-3.85v.....several of my friends are dropping their extra 6s and flying with just a single pack after they unanimously agreed my 700 would be a dud with the fuselage....I won't have any new video or reports till later in the week, as I am a backcountry off-road guide, and several groups have arrived in town....Thanks again!

Hi 'old fart'...my brother and I picked up two of these fuselages from RCA, and built them together on our TRex 700's as a joint project, and since we live next door, we were able to help each other out.

So, It's been over a month since you first posted about this heli. Have you Gotten more flights out of it? have you changed anything? I have a Heli very similar to this that i was trying to get flying. It's a junkyard heli with parts from all over. it fly's but the motor is overheating. I'd like to use a Single 6 cell setup on mine, but I'd prefer if i can get a 10 minute flight out of it.

Always looking for the expiration date

Hi Bud, yes I enjoy flying this heli, and it's only gotten better as I'm more comfortable with it,....2x5-minute flights, and I will be flying it at an event or two this summer (I am currently wintering in Arizona, so everyday the weather is nice enough to fly, (any retired snowbirds may think about wintering and flying here)...as I mentioned before, both my brother and I have TRex700's and are using the Align 750 Super Power motors....good luck!

Nice! I have the "Luxury" of being able to fly in a large warehouse So i can fly year round as well. It wouldn't hurt to be someplace warmer though

Do you know what gears you are running in it? You mentioned earlier in the post that you have a 530KV motor and Castle ESC.

Always looking for the expiration date
