I am thinking about getting the JR 11x Radio.

I have heard and read several threads concerning this Radio.

Is this a good radio? I see there were problems with the satellites previously.

Just wondering if all is OK now before I commit on one.

Thanks, Dennis

I've been using my DSMX 11X for about three years now to fly airplanes, helicopters and gliders; it's an exceptional radio. It has no telemetry or voice alerts, but I don't mind.

I recently put a 3S LiFe 1800 mah battery in it, to replace the 1500mah NiCd pack; it works much better and now balances on my neck strap (would hang down before). I set my low voltage alarm to 9.6 volts and a fully charged battery yields me roughly 46 ten minute flights (7 hours, 46 minutes) before the alarm sounds. When I recharged the battery, I put back in 1275mah, roughly 70% of pack capacity. That is much better than what I ever got with the NiCd pack.

11X is a great radio if you're getting a good deal.

I went from the X9303 to the X9503 because I liked the new back lit light...really same radio other than extra model memories. I do think you would like the feel of 11X and a lot more functions over the X9503
I'm not wanting to run any Dmss rx, so the 11X dsmx is working great for me.

New Radio

Hey DennisH,

Are you looking at buying a New 11X or a used one? I personally don't like the looks or feel of the 11X. I have small hands so that's part of my problem. But of course both my reasons are personal and subjective.

If you are looking at buying a new radio, I would definitely buy one that has voice and telemetry. I too at one time thought that these two things weren't big deals but after using them, I would never go back to a transmitter without these 2 features. I still have/use a JR 12x but purchased a Jeti DC-16 about 4 years ago and love everything about this radio. The only reason I still have the 12x is for my bind-n-fly Blade helicopters and airplanes.

But as a number of people have already stated, the 11X is a good radio and can do just about as much as anything else out there. It really comes down to how it feels and if you like the looks. Mark

I did the 9303/9503 and love them. I just bought the 11x and definitely has more features. It is definitely a difference and will take a bit to get used to. I really like the added features and look forward to learning them.

I am looking to upgrade from my 9503, something with a few more channels. I like the way the 9503 is set up, very user friendly.

I have a Futaba SG14 which I might sell to get a higher end JR. Something that also has voice and telemetry.

Thanks, Dennis

New Radio...

Dennis, you might want to look into the new JR XG14.. this is an amazing radio.. and the new DMSS protacol is the best link to my many different aircraft that I have ever felt.. and, if voice is something you think you need, it can be added by JRA..
Telemetry is standard on all of the XG models... best of all, you don't need separate satelites with those pesky little wires that seem to always give up at the most inopertune moments... the sats on JR are for telemetry, so the only thing you might loose is a bit of info!!
I am certain, if you give one a try, you will be glad you did.. I fly from some of the very smallest to the 40+%'ers that are out there... I have flown JR (Century back then) since 1990 when I stepped into helis for the logical programing... this holds true through today..
I am lucky enough to have been chosen to be on Team JR, but truthfully, even if I hadn't I would be telling you the same thing..,

I flew with my JR 11x for the first time today and I really like it. It is a bit different than my 9503, but feels great.

Dennis I will throw in a couple of ideas here too. XG14 is a nice radio. Works well and feels good. Gimbals are good on the 14. Some of the nicest gimbals out there other than the 28x. This radio is a little smaller than the 11 is. One thing to remember if you have big or small hands.

XG11 tho has better resolution from what I was told by the tech man that was at JR Americas. He said the XG11 is a 4096 resolution and the XG14 has a 2048 resolution. Also the sats are a thing of the past. All receivers that are out now come with no sats. Now you can add a RA03TL sat to it if you feel you need one but we fly with no sats anymore. That is nice in my opinion as the little wires break to easily.

Just a couple of things about the radios. Either one is an excellent radio and if you switch to the DMSS protocol you will love how solid feeling it is.

DMSS and FASST/est are the rock solid protocols. Spektrum will blue screen and crash you just for the fun of it. S/W crashes are a thing with Spektrum for 10 years now. Jeti needs an RF design guy on the staff. VBar is a bottom of the line cheap feeling radio with great s/w - if you fly VBar. Kids coming from game controllers don't notice the cheap sticks.

I thought that JR quit making DSMX equipment and went to their DMSS.

I know one can't get a new JR 12X anymore.

It appears one can get a "re-conditioned" 11X, just not new.

Not Sure??

Hi E,
Not sure what you are saying, but if you are looking for a "New" 11x DSMX, your right, they are no longer made...

JR does offer a "New" XG11 DMSS in thier new line up of radios..
