U.S. President Donald Trump's attempt to strip municipalities of federal dollars for shielding illegal immigrants threatens $2.27 billion in annual funds for the nation's ten largest cities, a Reuters analysis of federal grants found.

Trump plans to make good on his campaign pledge to block federal funding to states and cities where local law enforcement refuse to report undocumented immigrants they encounter to federal authorities, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said.

"The American people are no longer going to have to be forced to subsidize this disregard for our laws,” Spicer said.

Spicer said an executive order signed by Trump on Wednesday directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to look at federal funding to cities to figure out "how we can defund those streams."

Interesting note:
On the radio today, I heard that the California
police agency's are not wanting this.

Their reasoning is that the hispanics will be
afraid to assist in solving crimes fearing
deportation if they rat.

I'll bet this same rationale is behind Chi town
mayor Rahm too.

Welcome to the first 20,068 Dow, just 5 days
of POTUS Trump!

What a LOOOOSER!

Just kidding..

That is a true statement...but consider this...illegals wouldn't be victims of crime or witnesses to crimes if they didn't commit a crime by illegally entering the country.

That logic is similar to criminals objecting to police having guns because they might kill a criminal.

People were taking Trump seriously. Now they’re starting to take him literally.

During the campaign, many of Donald Trump’s supporters and even his advisers said they took many of the candidate’s most far-reaching promises seriously but not literally.

Now in his first week at the White House, President Trump is showing that at least some of them were indeed meant literally — putting him at odds not only with critics but with some members of his own party.

How novel...he says what he means and he means what he says. Suck on that liberals.

I have been waiting for this. It will be interesting how this affects them.

I was all excited about Gov Abbott in Texas taking money away from Austin (Travis County-Sanctuary City). Until I found out that the money equals about 1% of the counties/cities budget. Whoopee. That'll teach em.

^^^Good, then there're won't be a problem stopping the money.

I mean if it is 1%, then Travis county can thumb their nose at us taxpayers and go about their agenda. They should be happy.

But wait, I suspect there is a lot more to the story. Travis county will squeal like a stuck pig when that money doesn't show up.

I don't care if it is one red cent...stop it.

On the contrary, they can use deportation as a tool to encourage co-operation with the police.

Sweet...I can hear the cop now:

"Are you interested in ratting out your buddies, or should we just turn you over to ICE?"

I like that.

Texas Gov. Abbott threatens to oust officialswho promote sanctuary cities

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is vowing to pursue legislation to "remove from office" any official who promotes sanctuary cities -- potentially raising the stakes for local sheriffs and mayors who defy federal law.

The proposal also could set up a legal showdown between local and state officials in the Lone Star State.

Abbott announced the legislation in an interview Wednesday with "Fox & Friends," saying he and fellow Republicans in the Texas legislature are working to ban sanctuary cities and impose financial and criminal penalties on officials who fail to comply.

"We are working on laws that will ... ban sanctuary cities [and] remove from office any officer-holder who promotes sanctuary cities," he said.

Some Texas mayors think they can defy Federal laws and state laws. Gov. Greg Abbott is about to take them to the woodshed.

Trump and his new AG need to do the same. Also have them pay for damages caused by their actions. Wrongful death suits and the like. Bet they all roll over and do the right thing once a few face charges.
