When can we expect updates made to shower houses? With an event with so many in attendance, and after last summers debacle, i think its pretty apparent something needs done. The showers were discusting. The amount of mold on the ceilings and flooding on the the floors. Grosse!!! And only 2 showers for 1000 people to share, somthing has to give.

Send emails to your District rep and AMA directly. Let them know of your concerns, this is the only way these type of issues will be taken care of. IRCHA may be a SIG with the AMA but rank and file complaining works much better.

Kevin's reply is spot on concerning the showers. IRCHA has no control over the number of showers or the overall facility.

AMA has to build and manage the facility based upon overall use throughout the year. As much as we would like to think the AMA is busy with events like the IRCHA Jamboree all the time, the reality is that the facility has much smaller events through the year.

With that being said, cleanliness is important and I am sure this will be looked at for this year.

Might be a good idea to work together and bring in mobile shower stations similar to the decontamination variety. Just a thought.

Randy, last year there was some issue with the the electeical on one of the sites. If im not mistaken it had something to do with the shower houses at the RV site so they shut them down for the entire event. It was 100 deg the entire event. The only showers and restroom with running water was up front by the museum. Those showers had at least an inch of water backed onto the floors, mold all over the walls and cieling. Not to mention bugs n spiders living there. It was just plain disgusting. 2 showers for the entire 1k+ people to share for 5 days. Asside from that, the showers at the rv site are normally gross to begin with. Floodding floors and moldy dirty walls... Its unsanitary. With an event that large its uncalled for. I love to camp at the grounds and enjoy the evening fun but with facilities in that sort of shape, count me out. Theres no reason for that.

IRCHA did look at the possibility of mobile shower houses and lets just say--It was extremely cost prohibitive.

The problem last year was an electrical problem. There was current detected in the shower fixture. This meant immediate shutdown of the extra shower houses until they could be fixed. As electric current in a shower fixture is "bad" on many levels they could not rush through the investigation and fix.

After taking an initial look at the problem, AMA did call an electrician. The problem was not a simple fix, this is why the showers were shut down for the duration.

If you are at the AMA facility and feel the showers or bathrooms are not up to expectations, you should share your thoughts with the AMA.

If an estimate of cost could be provided, a fundraising event DURING IRCHA (and other events) could be setup to raise funds for a new shower facility near site 4.

While I agree that the Shower facilities are subpar for an International Modeling Facility, are they there as a convenience? IOW, what other events, like Joe Nall for instance, offer these faciities? I've not attended Joe Nall as an RV'er, so I'm truly asking out of lack of knowledge.

Most RV's have shower facilities in them, so those campers HAVE access to a shower, the people that are Tent camping, well, it's called roughing it for a reason...

So the ONLY facilities that are a necessity are the Porta potty's, of which there are typically ample amounts of.

I might suggest that those attending IRCHA do so with the knowledge that showers may NOT be available, and plan accordingly. If they ARE available, and in sufficient quality to not gross people out, so much the better!!

Just my .02...

There was an estimate a few years ago of a new bathhouse on Site 4 and it was pretty high. Starting with a septic field and going from there. as stated, IRCHA pretty much abuses the entire site for 6 days so it's not cost effective. Even with the NATS running, MOST of the attendees are in hotels and the few that camp, well there's enough shower/toilet facilities to go around.
