Two B-2 “stealth” bombers struck Islamic State targets in Libya on Wednesday evening, killing nearly 100 terrorists just two days before President Obama is set to leave office, two U.S. defense officials told Fox News.

The B-2s dropped 108 precision-guided bombs on two ISIS training camps 30 miles southwest of the Libyan coastal city of Sirte, killing an estimated 85 fighters, a defense official said.
108 precision guided bombs to kill apprx 85 fighters?

how much $$$ are we spending just to killl ONE pajama wearing flip flop running goat humper? good grief....

each JDAM we drop costs on average $25,000 each... that does not include the cost of getting the B-2 in the air and all the support either...

seems we are spending well over $100,000 to kill every single one of these pukes.

this is ridiculous! since when do we need a GPS guided 500lb bomb dropped from 30,000 feet to kill ONE 150lb tard?

How much do we pay over a lifetime for a war wounded veteran? It is a balancing act, that is for sure.

You do have a point about the cost. Still if we can save a single man from being killed or injured, it is worth a lot. I say, bring on the robotics. Realize that our enemies can escalate too!

to what? being more effective with the little they have?

my point is that they are 10000% more efficient than we are...

a tiny terror cell can accomplish a hell of a lot more with $100,000 than we can, faster and with a significantly higher "return on investment".

being a Ex-military combat vet, I can tell you this much... we're really stupid if it takes them $1,000 to kill 100 of us and it takes no less than $100,000 to kill just one of them.

We need to stop with the overspending and get better at this game or the goat herders that make $20 a day running around with an AK are gonna bankrupt our country (if they haven't already).

yeah but they were all "equally spaced apart within 5 inches"....

So then, what do you suggest to cut the cost.

My comment was to mean, as we change tatics, so does our enemy. I am in favor of stand off weapons. It has been proven that nobody wins a war from the air. It would be nice to repay the enemy with war wounds rather than death. Death is easy, wounds last a lifetime.

Start with putting boots on the ground? All the support material, supplies, transportation, equipment. The first boot on the ground is probably going to cost a couple of million dollars. Each major war injury is probably going to cost a million dollars or more.

We are on the same side of this argument... how do we do it better and cheaper? You are right, they intend to bankrupt us.

hmm

I agree that is pretty expensive on our end. Perhaps there was ordinance that had to be shot off near expiration...

Its a heavy poker hand. Swarms of bees. Just like any engagement you sequence through several types of crippling strikes. The funds, the food water, the transportation, lastly the will. Its a large video game that the enemy carries no value for you and through intense brain washing with Tide. Intelligence to me seems most valuable to plan for several hundred to meet their 72 virgins at one time.

You would have admit getting 85 ISIS members together for a Tony Robbins lecture on motivation and then releasing un-motivational JDAMs was awesome.

How many bullets were fired per kill in Vietnam?
The percentage is entirely down to what individuals are involved and their marksmanship, as previously stated in the Vietnam war the american troops required roughly 50 000 rounds to kill a single enemy combatant whilst the marine snipers on average used 1.33 rounds per kill.
dumb bombs? yes, alot of the leftover "dumb" bombs which have been retro fitted with either laser guidance or GPS guidance system "attachments".

I think we are going about this the wrong way...

we are swatting the ants inside our home streaming in from the outside... but we never seem to bother to find the nest and eliminate it. we need to follow the trail (money) back to the queen at the nest and drop a bomb on that.

the're two reasons these dim wits fight...

1. Religion (brain washing)

2. Money

we can certainly find the last one... but my guess is that the starting point of this money is very closely related to some overseas allies.

the first one is the religious leaders that do the brain washing and serve as a coordinating point for the funds.

Maybe we could build a trap?

like a big ol strip club in the middle of each terror center...
...just one bomb

but damn.... nearly 2 bombs for each terrorist.... come on.

A quick internet search says that we expend 250,000 rounds to kill a single insurgent. I find that hard to believe, but I would guess that includes all the target range practice.

Even snipers need to practice... so that is not 1 to 1.

What about the "saw" and the Gatling gun style weapons mounted on aircraft? They use a lot of firepower.

2 each B-2 bombers were used on this raid. Stayed in the air for 32 hours. Flew from Missouri base $8.8 million dollars worth of aircraft time.
