Thanks guys.

Doors are in, fixed with magnets.

Just a couple more jobs and its ready for a maiden flight

I checked the you tube video of the guy who had the same problem as me with the servo wheels. He obviously did not read the instructions about the tail tube. He lowered the mechanics to clear the wheels and now he will have to make new formers to support the tube inside the tail boom and maybe the fenestron will be at a funny angle. I'll bet Kirsten is having a chuckle over that video.

Trex 700 EC135

After a couple more hiccups Its ready to test fly. The first problem was one of the DS610 servos died, so I had to replace it and of course they are,no longer available. So, I bought 3 of Berts BK7001 servos which are just fantastic and fitted them. although fitting the elevator servo did cause some bad language as I almost had to split the frames to get it out. I found by prizing off the grommets the builder had fitted, I could slide it out, just. Fitting the new servo was much easier. The binnacle was modified to hold the 8S battery I am using and like that, no extra weight is needed for balance. That is useful if and when I fit a 4 blade head to it. Fly bar stays on for now.

Other than a lot of trimming on the rudder and tuning the head speed to minimize vibes on the tail fin, the only thing I have to do now is reduce the rate on the elevator to stop the violent tail down jerks when coming in too fast. This bird likes to go fast. Here's a short video of its first flight. I didn't have a camera man so it flies out of shot a lot, so I have cut out the bits where you are watching the clouds moving across the sky. It will fly better as I get it dialed in more.

Flybar Heli

Hi Payne,
Just a joke between Peter and myself,.,
(Us old timers)
I have always said that a good stabbi system makes your heli feel like it has a flybar!#

Thanks guys. I was quite impressed with the comfortable feeling I had within a couple of minutes of hovering so I let it loose and it was smooth. There's a lot to be said for a flybar heli just for fun, if you are familiar with setting them up.

Not scale, I admit, but then the whole helicopter isn't scale, just one of Varios "similar to the real thing" fuselages with a cockpit full of mechanics.

Just a little information on the mechanics. Its the stock motor and gearing with a YEP ESC running on 8S 5800 at 75% throttle. A 6 minute flight used 3500mAH. The 8S battery came from Hobbyking at $39!!

As penance my next project will be a highly detailed scale model, with no flybar

how do most of them set up a stabbi system
yes to fly like a flybar

my scale (ish) machines all have a proper head
complete with a flybar
I do fly of and boom fbl

when I asked for advice on my bell47g3 head the reply Igot was do you wish to sit and look at it or are you going to fly it in all conditions like the rest of your heli's
so it had the flybar head on it
